Hi Span, This is in response to your earlier post. Yea, the 'stock' gold is pretty dark. Here is a way that you can make a shinier gold without making it look wonky. (picked that term up here somewhere) The SpansGold above is just a modified Yellow Anodized Aluminum. (YAA for short) The stock YAA is still to dark the hotspot or highlight is too big. Sooooooooo...Duplicate the shader. Now we need to make it brighter. Just increasing the value of the 'color' washes out the metal look. Instead, drag-duplicate the Higlight channel/layer up to Color. That creates some nice color but it's way too bright so now you can double click the on the color to open up the Color Picker. In the 'L' (lightness) window and reduce the percentage of lightness (I think that was 65% orginally) In doing this, you don't change the Color per se, just make it darker. Play around with lightness just to see the difference though. The next step was just to make it shinier to reduce the size of the 'hot spot' without going too far and reducing it to a tiny point of light. Hope that this helps. Mark

Don't worry, no glitch, I pulled it because I felt a little silly after asking something like that and was going to try tweaking a little more. But I would'nt have been able to get the solution provided for a long time. Looks BEAUTIFUl!!! Thanks Again Guys, Span(;>)

Ok - Thanks for the info. You must have pulled it as I was replying. I typed in my reply and then the forum came back and said the message was no longer available... No big - Thanks for letting me know. Good luck. Clint PS - No questions are silly...if in doubt, post away. ;)

Thanks again Mark! Was fiddling with it last night and this morning and I am learning alot just working with the tutorial/example. Don't know if I'll put together a whole scene, but will certainly post something with the texture. I will keep the name that you called it, and also credit you as the creator. Again Very Beautiful!!
