Showing another new variant of the growing line of Mr. F characters is the RPG Dwarf Pak by John Malis. These are some totally new and interesting faces as well as new Mr. F clothing items. Maybe we will even see a FREAK SANTA CLAUS!(Now that they have the beard!).

Isn't that package just to cool??? I am so thrilled Jon did this!

In a world filled with causes for worry and anxiety...
we need the peace of God standing guard over our hearts and minds.

I can already see coming now-- a future Neftis Toon-Gal character- "Looks Like Snow White" and the Seven CUTE Freak Dwarfs! These characters would be IDEAL for all those cute little Ironhart Homes in the REN Store! Also- recycle those Hobbit Homes and Props too!

MachineClaw: Spam? I'm not sure, but I don't think Daz products would belong in the product showcase. Daz products have nothing to do with Renderosity. Not only that, but the member posting the link is deffinately not making any profit from the item in question, atleast not to my knowledge. If a member posts a link to a product that he/she is excited about that's for sell at a website that's not affiliated with Renderosity, and that member is not making profit from it, then I don't think it's spam. Of course, that's my oppinion. Others will come along and correct me if I'm wrong. By the way - that is a very nice package. I myself would buy it if I hadn't just bought V3, M3, and the Freak.

You are of course correct. Tact, endict, an manners have nothing to do with anything. I want to be the NEW 8th Dwarf, Annoyed, I'll be buddies with Grumpy.

I believe the rule is that if you are not the merchant selling the product, you can talk about a product on this forum (or its related forum) but if you are selling, or may sell in the future, the product, then you are to place the threads on the Product Showcase Forum. That's the distinction, in my mind. Of course Daz stuff is discussed here all the time, rather to an extreme at times but without censorship, but it is not Daz that's posting but rather enthusiastic users. That wasn't always the case, but it seems to be so now. And there is a distinction between free stuff and selling, of course.

If Neftis comes out with a new MALE character- a perfect new role for him would be as Snow White's PRINCE. The perfect Fantasy Carriage also awaits at DAZ! I bought that set last year and love it. A great fantasy coach- as in Cinderella (ANOTHER new Neftis character!!!) and it also turns into two great London style horse drawn carriages, with great P4 horse tack and a fancy head plume, even.

The way to do it would be to say the item is not going to be for sale, get everyone behind you and then sell the item anyway. lol Sam you just stand right there with me on this....heh Grumpy (Marque)

Is there room for a ninth dwarf? I'll put up with the beard if I can have a moustache to chew on instead of some ratzinfratzin nuisance. "Annoyed" seems to have been taken. How about offended? Bored? Irritated? With all the gnats and mosqitoes to swat at, how about... Itchy

So, has anyone bought this product yet? Does it really make the Freak into a dwarf? That is, dwarf-sized compared to the human M3? Does the clothing fit the standard Freak? And what other RPG characters is John Malis working on, I wonder?

Veritas777 ( ) posted Thu, 13 November 2003 at 2:06 PM

The DAZ page says that its the first in a series, so I would suspect more will be coming. John Malis is a real TALENT! (BTW, there is help for PMS sufferers!) I guess everyone can't feel as happy and upbeat as I do about all the new great new stuff coming out! Too bad- but there's always the original P4 characters that came with Poser to play with!

I don't think you were out of line to post about this package. If all the posts about M3 were permitted, this should be, too. I don't understand why everyone's so upset. Every week, people post about the new DAZ products here. Personally, though, I'm more excited about the new M3 bishonen package than the dwarfs. I don't do anime art, but the morphs look like they'd be very useful, used judiciously with M3's other morphs. I am definitely buying that. Still haven't decided about the dwarfs. I really like the wizard robes in the PC. Just the thing for rendering Gandalf the Grey (or White) or A Wizard of Earthsea...

There's a little something else for the Freak in DAZ's freebie this week, a pair of boots for him. This is exactly what I've been wanting. 8) Catlin

I think DAZ is really "zeroing in" on what a lot of people want- DIFFERENT types of characters, not just fashion statements. I think the new M3 Bishonen character will be popular as a better "young man" character than the M3 base is. Also great for Anime-style charas. The new Billy-T Freak boot freebie is really nice too!(Mr. F has been needing some really good boots!.) Personally, I hope John develops the Dwarf characters more and gives us some "cute dwarves" like you see in "Snow White", or one that could become even a Santa Claus (now that we have an M3 Beard!!!) I also think that Gnomes as you see in German-Scandinavian folklore would be great.

"Lawn garden gnomes" are nothing like the Scandinavian ones. They bear as much resemblance to the creatures of myth and folklore as does the "lawn garden negro boy" holding the ring for hitching your horse does to anybody who actually was enslaved on a plantation. Plastic, plastic, plastic! (Except for the ones made of resin by the copycat firm.) If you are going to collect source material and post it several times all over the threads, please be more discriminating in your research! Illustrators who possess skill and imagination have been drawing trolls, gnomes, fairies, and dwarves for a couple of centuries. John Bauer is one of my favorite such artists (I must have acquired his Swedish Fairy Tales soon after printing, and immediately recognized his influence upon Brian Froud (another favorite)). This link is to an article about him, and includes links to other artists of the time and genre. He created a lot of trolls, but also painted the other demihumans. And this link leads to a nice page about trolls, some of whom are nicer than humans. "As honest as a troll" is an ancient Viking proverb... because they were. They didn't lie and were intolerant of falsehood... so I'd hate to be around one seeing his plastic "replica"! http://users.skynet.be/fa023784/links.html Carolly

Such enthusiasm. So many people are jaded that it is kind of shocking to see such cheerfulness. Ah but I can always count on a certain few to put the sourpuss back into things. :)
