Sorry for the very loooong image, thought it was better then 5 posts. :) Well, some of you asked for some WIP-images, so heres a couple of the new post. The first one, is the original idea, but it turned out to be..."too much", so skipped that one. Second one, another idea that wasnt any good. 3,4,5 - The render straight out of Bryce, and the second scene with the buildings used in the back. Combined these two in Photoshop, and added some lightrays + DOF. Drew some neon signs, and most of the city lights, and finally brought the image into UIC, for flares and haze.

I've been to your gallery Rudy and your finished image certainly got my vote. It is stunning. I think you will definately get to the hot one again with this piece. Beautiful work as always. 8) Catlin

Why is it that your "WIP" looks like many other (or at least my" finished products?? :) Seriously though, it's as Catlin said--Hot20, here you come!

Just looking and looking. So many details!!! But, please 'splain to me.. what does UIC mean??

mloates ( ) posted Thu, 13 November 2003 at 4:26 PM

UIC = Universe Image Creater. Cool little app for making star fields/galaxies, adding "atmospheric" touches to an image, etc.

jeez i would have been more than happy with the first one, but you always take a step (or 3) further!! just looked at the finished image a minute ago, im glad to see the steps you took, definetly inspiring stuff.

I'm always in awe of the complexity of your 'citywalls' how do you decide what they should look like? What shapes go where to make a cohesive whole?

Where did you model the buildings? And I, for one, would certainly welcome a tutorial on postwork. And would be very grateful for it.

The city in the back, is just a mix with lots of older models, randomly put together, streched etc. The walls to the right are new though. Apart from a basic idea, i never know what theyll look like until i start to put them together... :) I do all modeling in Bryce. Havent started to use any other app just yet. As for the postwork, i would gladely post a tut. Problem is, that i really suck when it comes to tutorials... :)

Now com'on...you're really just replicating old photos from home aren't you? Those are pretty intricate, the wire frames must get pretty intense huh?

Aye, it's wonderful stuff, thanks for helping take SOME of the mystery about your modeling out of it for me! I love your work, as well...

WIP? Waiting for my work to get half that good. Can't wait to see the finished product with all the bells and whistles. Excellent texturing, btw. John
