Here's my first try at writing a material room tutorial. Not the longest tutorial in existance, but (I hope so) the first of a series. I'd love to get some feedback, esp. if that is the kind of MR tutorial you'd like to see (building an example shader step by step) or if you'd like a different kind (e.g. an explanation of each individual node). Along with it, the FireFly FAQ and the FireFly options overview got minor updates.

I agree with you to read first the manual, many problems can be solved when people read first the book. You use in the example displacement maps, maybe you should add the special requirements in render settings to your tutorial too (firefly).

The render settings are a good point, I should add that. However, it should work fine with the default settings, the displacement of max 0.1 is usually covered with the standards bounds. ;)

Thank you stewer this is just what I've been looking for. I would also like to see a tutorial on explaning each individual node or anything else you might think we need to know. I guess knowledge is a good thing especially when dealing with Poser. 8) Catlin

Thank you very much! May be a combination of both approaches would work well: Show how to build a material and explain any used node in deep. Not as much work than to cover all nodes at once and may be more interesting to read. Wer ein wenig tiefer einsteigen will, mueh englisch lesen.
