Subject: Eyes point at camera, how to stop squinting?

i'm working on very large animations and if i make the eyes point to the camera it works very well with the cam movements i have but the figure still seems squinting a little is there a trick to fix this? the eyes don't look parallel if the cam is really close to the face -Ede

That's because you're making the poor character go cross-eyed as you move the camera closer :) As you move the camera closer and closer to the face, the eyes must rotate towards the center to remain pointing at a virtual point in space. A much easier trick would be to take a sphere or cube and shrink it down to about 50%. Place this behind the camera a way and make both eyes point at this. You can then move the focal point with the camera - you might even be able to parent the two together so that, when you move the camera, the focal point moves as well. Paul

so what you suggest is to create "virtual" points she has to look at (spheres behind the cam) i'll try to make two of them (left&right eye) and make her point at them, then parent them to cam thats a great idea! thanks! :-) -Ede BTW: I sent for a new cdr-drive and im all set again thank god!

Yeah I use a focal object all the time. Its a great idea. I have a small box (spheres are too poly intensive). I focus the eyes on the box then hide the box. When I want the figure to look at something I just move the box around till the eyes look right. I also parent the box to the head so if they move thier head the focusgoes with them. I find the aim system isn't what you think it is. If I want the figure to stare at the camera, aiming at the camera makes the corss eyed effect and they don't look natural.
