I have been away from Poser5,etc, for about a year(Lots of family and personal things, and frankly I got sick of Poser5 never working).I am back and PRAYING Curious Labs is no longer abandoning us with Poser5's problems.Anyway,I hear Daz will have its own 3D Program,in a few days actually.I can't wait.Hope everyone is doing well here.Artist3D.

SR3 has taken care of a few of P5s more annoying issues, but I am really hoping DAZ studio will be able to handle rendering needs. In case you haven't noticed there is a new forum dedicated to DAZ studio here. It should keep you up to date. Hope you renewed your PC membership, or you'll have to wait a little longer.

Plat Club members get first crack at trying to break it. After we beat it into submission, it will get released into general population for more abuse. We've been getting kinda rowdy over at the DAZ forum screaming, "Is it there yet? Is it there yet?" every 5 minutes. ;-)

welcome back, with any luck it'll only take Daz a year to get the bugs worked out and for the Beta version to become the "official release" version. Then we begin to find out how much D|S will end up costing people.

Kelderek ( ) posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 4:17 AM

What? From what I have seen in the hyped up threads about D|S here, it will be free, have no bugs, all the features of Poser, Lighwave, Maya and 3D Max combined and render a dozen V3 in 4 milliseconds. I even heard it will fill in my tax forms and make coffee. Don't you come here and tell me all this was wrong, you non-believer!

What - it's not bigger than Jesus?

LOL .  Well, DAZ delayed the release to the PC members by a week.  This past Friday, they sent out a newsletter stating "4 days and counting..." which would make it yesterday, unless they were counting in business days. :)  To date, D|S is still not released, and the PTBs at DAZ are quiet..  I was excited at first, but I think this pretty much describes my attitude now.   I'm a pessimist, so I hit the "believe it when I see it" stage fairly quickly.

The first info posted about D|S stated that the base version would be free, but the statement was removed in later updates to the D|S product page.  Some people have stated that Steve K. says the base will still be free, but I have not personally seen such a statement.  I think that there will be a basic and a pro version of the product.  The basic will be free, but not the pro version.  Who knows?

Grrrrrrr.Stop speculating people!LOL.Daz and everyone working for them are stand up men and women,so why say what will happen until it comes out?I would rather they take their time and release it later, with a minimum amount of bugs, than what CL did and release P5 with all that mess to go along with it.And not for nothing, why in the world would any of us expect it to be free? Are you high?LOL.If Daz releases a quality, functioning,WORKING product,(which I am sure they will),then they of course have every right to sell it.I will be the FIRST to buy.Now everyone take a deep breath and be glad we at least will have an alternative(addition, maybe)to P5,which I want to love, but it just is so messed up.Again,I have faith, someday,CL will do the right thing. In the meantime,I believe Daz always has had quality items at very fair prices.I for one can wait for the Daz Program,as I know it will be be great:)

Farside did make a speculate statement about the length of the public beta and Kelderek made what I intrepret as a humorous comment.  But the rest is not speculation.  Steve K. already informed the Platinum Club users that when we get the program it will be in a "final alpha stage", and DAZ is confident "that the transition from final alpha to initial public beta will occur within only a matter of weeks."  Steve also stated that the PC members have a "slightly larger responsibility or 'oppurtunity' to help DAZ get this program ready for public beta."  The statements are from a post that Steve K. mane in the PC only area of the DAZ Forums.
And the statements about the deadlines and the "4 days and counting" statement are true.

And not for nothing, why in the world would any of us expect it to be free? Are you high?LOL.If Daz releases a quality, functioning,WORKING product,(which I am sure they will),then they of course have every right to sell it.I will be the FIRST to buy.Now everyone take a deep breath and be glad we at least will have an alternative(addition, maybe)to P5,which I want to love, but it just is so messed up.Again,I have faith, someday,CL will do the right thing. In the meantime,I believe Daz always has had quality items at very fair prices.I for one can wait for the Daz Program,as I know it will be be great:)

Why would we expect it to be free???  Because as I said, they already stated here.

Oh. And I did forget that I made a speculative statement about a basic and pro version. The speculation was based on Mimic 2.0 -- DAZ released a basic and a pro version of the program.

Artist3D ( ) posted Fri, 05 December 2003 at 9:23 PM

Can you say anal?LOL.Nobody said you in particular said any statement that was wrong or right. What I saying was to WAIT patiently and for everyone not to get in a "tizzy",(my aunt used to say that, lol),about it.Like I initially said "Grrrrrrr.Stop speculating people!"Why you thought my observation was based soley on you is beyond me,because it wasn't.It was based on many postings I have seen hereon Render, again not specifically this posting, where people were whining endlessly for no real reason. There is no point in that.So smile and take a deep breath. :)

Uh. I believe I defended more than myself in the post. :-)
Ya have to remember that statements can easily be misinterpreted in forums. I was just trying to accurate and to the point. Your statement seemed more directed at the replies in this post than to the situation in general.

People are trying to wait patiently, but DAZ themselves added to the "frenzy of the tizzy" by putting a "4 days and counting..." message in their newsletter, after rescheduling the Platinum Club release from approx Nov 26th to approx Dec 2nd. The message implied that they were confident in their progress, but then they missed the Dec 2nd date. Since the message got some people excited about getting D|S (like a kid getting a new bike), I can understand why people were (and some still might be) in a tizzy. Personaally, I think we will be lucky to see D|S as a Christmas present. And that is not the full public beta in December. I'm talking about the pre-release to the Platinum Club members. The full beta most likely will not happen until next year, given the current "plan".

I hear ya...:)Lets all remember though that Daz and Dan Farr from Daz are basically upfront, honest, creative, and talented people(Don't get a swelled head guys, lol)and in so, people sometimes are not perfect.I have nothing but the utmost faith we will all be happy in the long run and will thank Daz many times over...:) Be well.
