There is a problem if you point the external plugins folder to the PS6 (or even PS7) native plugins folder - Adobe recommend using a separate folder for third party plugins (I've long used Program FilesPlugins, but that's so I can easily share with Painter) but of course some insist on going in the PS folder, so those would need reinstalling to CS (if they still work, of course. They took out the thumbnails in CS for Windows - they were just unable to get the icon handler to play well with Windows (I'm sure you've had occasions when a PSD has suddenly started to show the icon for another application, the Intellimouse being a favourite of my system). It is, I believe, possible to hack the Registry to use the earlier routines: see the Adobe User-to-User forums if you dare.
I think you're spot on here Robert. I found the PDFL47.dll in the P6 root directory_ I transferred it plus all my plugins in to the new PS CS plugins folder and it got rid of all the error messages. Can't get old KPT2 to work! (but then I don't think its worked for a long time!) I'll just have to go and redirect Painter now! Its a shame about the thumbnails_ it looks such a mess when browsing_ but I think I'll live with it rather than mess with the gubbins under the bonnet!! Thanks for the reply. Nigel

Have just installed PS CS (upgrade from PS 6) and activated normally. However I have two problems and wondered whether anyone else has an answer. (btw Windows XP O/S) First on start up I get an error message saying that PDFL47.dll is missing_ re-install might solve (it doesn't) and then a second message saying 'couldn't load MMX Core Routine & Fast core modules because they don't work with this version.' If I cancel these info boxes, 'start-up' still procedes and PS seems to work ok._I've noticed this happens at about the time during start up when the programme is looking for my plugins folder (which still sits in my PS 6 directory)Is it because I still have PS6 installed??? Its no big deal but it does prolong the start up routine. Secondly, in my Windows browser all photoshop files created in the new programme have a flat black thumbnail. All ones made in my earlier version are ok. The PS browser seems to show the thumbnails properly is there something I'm not doing right on saving?
