Subject: HELP PBooost DIED

I have been using Pboost for some time and found it invaluable. I'm in the middle of a job and upgraded the drivers for my ATI AQll in Wonder 9700 to the latest version. Now If I open PBooost the program opens, but if I click any of the windows, the whole windows turns white and the program freezes. I urgently need it working as I have to finish the job. Have you tried contacting Howard about this? He is very helpful. Until the problem is resolved you should not have lost your banks, just look for the folder where you placed them. You can manually copy them back to your Poser runtime folders. It's a PITA but will keep you working. You just won't have switching capabilities.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Ouch! Hi... I've replied directly to Alberto by e-mail. I've done a little research on ATI AIW9700 cards and found they do sometimes have problems with running openGL. This seems sporadic but could be specific to the the various versions of the driver. Anyway... There are deadlines at stake here so I've advised Alberto to roll-back to the previous Video driver as this definately worked fine with PBooost's small and simple openGL usage. Otherwise... you'll have to temporarily move the folders you know you're going to need for the project into the plain ol' 'pose', 'character' etc. folders so Poser can see them. Anyone else with OpenGl or PBooost problems with this video card? 'Cos we know Alberto's previous driver works fine... could be useful for someone else! What was your working driver version Alberto? i installed the ati 3.9 drivers and had a problem also with an app not starting. went back to the 3.8 drivers problem fixed. 8-)

This is going to sound like a really stupid question, but where does one find out the 3.x number? I usually go by the last 4 digits of the driver revision in Device Manager. Could someone let me know what 3.8 is in that respect? I just bought P-Boost, though haven't had time to get to work on it, because I'm finishing off a couple projects that I have to do before getting involved in doing anything with my Poser directories, but would like to know what it is safe to upgrade to (as my drivers are from recovered from a backup I made a while back).

Thanks for any advice on this note...

Also a question to HogWarden, is it better to start anew from P-Boost in the directories or is it just as well to move everything out. I am thinking of clearing the lot for the new year and starting again, more organized (my resolution for the new year and you know how those go)... and using P-Boost to keep that organization as I understand it is very good for that.

Ah, found it. Thanks...

Hi... ShadowWind... If your runtime is seriously unkempt it would be easier to start with a clean slate... otherwise you still end up with loads of stuff in your libraries you don't need. On an ATI note, I've created a version of PBooost with NO OPEN GL mesh viewer and a non-animated splash-screen. This should work on machines with problems showing OpenGL under windows.... like if you start PBooost and it immediately refuses to respond or if the splash-screen messes up. If you rea-a-aly need this version let me know and I'll mail it to you. Howard:))
