Ok, so I'm playing with an animation in Max, the images are part of the animation, showing the character studio biped rather then the final person and their clothes, thie very early WIP, but it's an animation next years rosity CD.

----------

Toolset: Blender, GIMP, Indigo Render, LuxRender, TopMod, Knotplot, Ivy Gen, Plant Studio.

Damn my keyboard is playing up (or maybe it's my brain and the keyboard is fine). should have read 'this is a very early WIP, but it's an animation I want to submit for next years 'rosity CD.'

Looking mighty cool. How long have you been using Max?

Gog ( ) posted Thu, 11 December 2003 at 3:46 AM

2&1/2 years, I use it mainly for early product realisation, you know models of early concepts for product ideas. I tend to keep the work side and hobby side of CG seperate, but thought I'd go for it with this little animation.

Does the biped end up being the "bones" of the character?

Gog ( ) posted Fri, 12 December 2003 at 4:11 AM

Yes, the biped is part of the character studio add on, it becomes the bones and you lay mesh over it using a physique tool. The physique modifier allows you to adjust the envelopes for each bone. The main advantages of c studio over just using bones is improved inverse kinematics (with ready set joint limits) and also the ability to create a library of motion files (including ones created from motion captures. You can get a really natural look to the motion with it. (out of interest cstudio was the tool used to create the 'dancing baby' made famous by Ally Macbeal).
