With the 12 O'clock spoke, pull it towards you a bit. It'll look like the snake is behind it more......if the bottom of the spoke shows, tilt that end back toward the centre of the wheel.................

This is a model I made in Rhino, trying to replicate the Wheel-and-Snake. I found this nearly impossible to do, it's much like Escher's works in that it looks fine in the 2D, vector version, but was so tedious in 3D. It needs some work, still, as there are overlaps where the snake hits the wheel. Also, the material for the Wheel itself sucks, and I need to work on that a bit, but I thought the render looked cool... 76 light-dome, regular AA on this one. The original render was at 1700x1200, I shrunk it down and compressed it a bit with Riptide, hope it doesn't look too bad?
