Subject: Poser Fun & Frustration

Well I have a new toy for this holiday season. Now I need to learn the ropes. I am in awe of some of the renderings I have seen in the galleries of Poser and Vue.

In an attempt to do the same to get there, I have been trying to export Poser characters to Bryce to start with and have had little luck. I have exported from Poser 5 into .3DS and .DXF, but these files crash Bryce. In Strata, the .3DS files would not load and the .DXF file loaded but the clothes came off (except the boots..hehe).

I would appreciate pointers (links) on how to port to other rendering programs. Also, is it better to render in other programs or within Poser?

Thanks in advance

Grab Grouper from cast Iron Flamingo (link provided) & check out the tutorials for one of the best ways to get poser figures into Bryce. Grouper uses .obj files which I've found is the best format to export to. (is it better to render in other programs or within Poser?) That's a good question & you'll likely get 100 different answers from 100 different people. Sometimes it's better to render in poser other times it's better to render in Bryce Vue or any of the other 3d rendering programs out there. I think that's about the best answer I can give you ;)

and you can mixed it all up- useing vue or bryce images as your backgrounds. Then merge the poser scene into the background. My new pic "Lunch" is a vue BG and Poser merge and rendered in P4

Check out the classes offered at LVS. There are several Poser and Bryce classes including one dealing with Poser to Bryce imports.
