Subject: What's up with these eyes?

I seem to have a problem. Two actually. First of all. The black chunk, there. I have lash transparencies on, and well, those black lines there really don't look right. Aand. The brown lines around her iris. What's up with those? They aren't suppose to be like that, not according to the promotional image. (Kandied Koshini at PoserPros). Someone help, please. ;)

Could it be that you're using the anime eyes with the Real Eyes texture? Sorry I don't know about the lashes. The (right) transparency map IS applied, right?

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

The lashes may have the right transparencies, but appear to be the wrong size for the eyes. They are floating over the eyeball instead of being attached to the lid. Sometimes you can get this if the eye itself is bulging or a hair too far forward (interesecting mesh).

I think I tried to change her eyes to Real Eye, but I think like, her eyes turned white (her eyes shifted all the way down), and I tried to turn them back up, but it was too limited. Ya know? So. I don't know what the problem is. :( Help!

Can help probably on this one. Okay first off, ring around the Iris, this was a problem in the Koshini.exe of the very first week but should have been fixed the second week of release in March.... If you're still loading from this EXE, you probably missed the update notice from Daz which was a completely fresh download of the exe. I'd contact Daz and get them to set you up with a fresh download. They'll have a record of your purchase and since it was an update situation, they shouldn't give you any grief about needing a new copy. In the short term, if you know how to use UVMapper and install a fresh UV, http://www.ladylittlefox.com/KoshiniEyeRingFix.zip will help you out. Download that file and then go to Runtime/Geometries/LadyLittlefox/Koshini and open the objs by the same name one at a time, load the obj, then load the uvmap, it'll alter the mapping to the corrections, then just save over the obj and all should be fine. But do make sure to go to Daz and get a fresh download of the EXE, there were a few other fixes in the first week that were important that you'll want to get. This'll just get you up and running in the mean time. As to the Eyelash issue, that's actually a difficulty in the design of Koshini, not in the transparencies or morphs. When I created Koshini, I didn't create her with removable/transparent eyelashes. It just didn't occur to me that folks would want to make high detail transparent lashes on a cartoon figure. ;P And once she was out there wasn't much I could do to alter the geometries without making all the morphs that other people were making as well as my own completely unuseable. I made great pains to fix this in Ichiro when it was clear that folks wanted it and will see that the eyelash transparency is possible in all future models ;) Hope this helps ;) Lady Littlefox

Okay. Thank you so much for the help and the information. I understand the lash transparency thing, now. ;) But. I tried the UV Mapper thing. It didn't work. :( I probably didn't do it right. I had already downloaded the updated EXE. Then I did what you said, and well, it still has the lines around the iris and her eyes seem to bulge out of her skull when I apply a texture, now. :( But thank you for helping initially! :D

Hmmms very very strange.... Okay two other things to try: First... http://www.ladylittlefox.com/KoshiniUVFix.zip Do the same UVMap with Koshini herself, Save a the original under KoshiniOld.obj if you're nervous ;) And save the new one at Koshini.obj. Should be under the same file structure. This should fix the Real Eyes mapping, which may be what Kandied is using. Second Close and Reopen Poser and then reload the file. Poser can get tempramental on occasion ;) Lady Littlefox

I think I'm doing it wrong. Because it still isn't working. And I tried restarting Poser. :( I open UVMapper, load Koshini.obj, Import the UV Koshini.uvs, then save over Koshini.obj

littlefox ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 9:50 PM

Hmmms okay well if that didn't fix it I'm at a loss.... You did save the new Koshini.obj over the old one correct? The default of UVMapper is to save it into the folder that .UV was found in.... not over the original obj file. Double check the folder that it saved the .obj in. Beyond that, my best guess is you have one of the 1st or 2nd update patches, out of 3 but don't have the third one which is a complete exe, not just patches. Again, my best advice is to go to Daz and get the most recent version of the exe, stressing that it is an update issue so they don't charge you a $25 history download fee. Obviously Kandied and the majority of users aren't having this problem so the fault probably lies in something an update fixed or something that got corrupted in your copy of the exe. At which point, in either case, a fresh download of the exe would be your best chance at fixing it. Littlefox

Okay. I'll try that. Thanks so much Lady Littlefox! (and everyone else) ;)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 10:09 PM

Doesn't she also have to delete the rsr that went with the old object?

littlefox ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 10:21 PM

Woowoo Thank you Hauksdottir..... thud Does it show that I'm sick? :P Yes! That would definitely be a good idea.... RoundLEye.rsr, RoundREye.rsr, and Koshini.rsr in the geometry file should be deleted before trying to load. THANK YOU Hauksdottir!!!!! Hugs

Cylithera ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 11:19 PM

Awesome! The rings are gone! Thank you, hauksdottir! But. Um. Her eyes are still bulging out of her skull. :( (thank you very much, hauksdottir and LadyLittleFox. G)

Cylithera ( ) posted Thu, 01 January 2004 at 1:25 AM

Okay. I may have figured out the eyes thing. In the update, was Koshini's head scaled down to 88%? I think that's why they are bulging out. ;)

LaurieA ( ) posted Thu, 01 January 2004 at 1:28 PM

Holy cow! I had no idea this discussion was going on here! (Don't get around as much as I used to). I'm glad you got it fixed Cylithera :o). You're the only person that's had a problem so far (although that doesn't mean there isn't one ;o)). BTW, are you using Poser 5? I don't own 5, so I do all my setups and texture prep in P4. That could have had something to do with it. I'm so glad it's fixed for you now :o). Love to see a render! Laurie

Cylithera ( ) posted Thu, 01 January 2004 at 3:17 PM

Nope. No Poser 5, still 4. ;) No ProPack, either. I don't know what happened. I'm not sure if it happened with any other texture, I just now noticed it. ;) I'll post a link to my image when I get it finished! :) Thank you for your concern, LaurieA! ;) (Kandied Koshini is totally gorgeous)
