Subject: Something just occured to me....

I used to know someone who looked a lot like the model in BVH's store images. I hated her with a vengeance. Seeing that face provokes a reaction similar to... nails on a blackboard from me. Guess whose stuff I never even look at... (Sorry BVH! Nothing personal! LOL) I just wondered if anyone else has something like that. :) You know, things you just can't get past that will prevent you from even looking at the rest. I mean, that picture puts me off so much, I don't even look at the product and I would probably love the stuff... but... I just can't bring myself to... umm... Well that's just me lol. Maybe it'll turn into some valuable feedback for merchants :) You know... things to avoid and stuff.

lol maybe you could buy the product, apply it and take your anger out on it. You know deformation etc. I can't say I blame you too much, I do this myself. I tend to associate things with people I've known and rather not liked. This works out great when I'm going bowling. :O) --Essie

er... may i have her phonenumber, please? ;o)

Simderella ( ) posted Mon, 05 January 2004 at 9:03 AM

funny thing is... and this going to sound awful and extremely stupid, i get a similar feeling about the character in BVH's promo pix ... Somthing about her expression just, i dunno... irritating. Its a very irrassional feeling about a group of poly's... And its saying nothing about BVH's products, which are skillfully made and very generously priced. so i dunno what it is.. Hehehe... Hope this hasn't upset anyone. Its so hard no-a-days to know what you can and can't say without starting a huge 'hand bags at dawn' convo....LOL well... me and my irrational feelings towards and inoffensive collection of polygons are now going to seek councilling....teehee ;) -SimderZ- xXx

If I had her phone number, she would have a lot of pizza delivered. It would also be plastered on little sticky cards in phone boxes. (Yup I really don't like her :P) And Aleks.... She's a major b!tch. Trust me on that. She got a friend of mine into so much trouble, you would not believe it. It wasn't pretty. That woman is the last one you want on your doorstep. She reported a friend of mine to the police for child abuse. It took nearly 2 years to get him in the clear when he hadn't done a thing. (He was teaching her kid to READ!) She burned all of his stuff (furniture, legal documents, passport, musical instruments - everything) in a fit of rage because allegedly he had an affair with ME. Funny... I don't know anything about an affair, but if his hanging out at my place with me AND my boyfriend constitutes an affair... I can't even count how often he was here in those 2 years because he was ready to step over the edge and do something stupid, how often I've lent a shoulder to cry on in those 2 years. It's over now, but those were a very tough 2 years and she manage to convince even a handful of his (former) friends that he had indecently assaulted her kid. The kid is so afraid of the mother he'd (yes, HE) say anything for fear of getting beat up by Mom. In the end the kid showed some guts and told the police that mom told him to say it. The kid is no longer with his mother now (Thank GOD!), because he finally told the truth of who had given him the bruises. The woman is a complete psycho. Personally - I hope they put her away in some looney bin. She's dangerous. Still want that phone number?

That's too funny. I had IM BVH to find out about her, if she would be up for sale. No was the answer, but one can always hope. LOL.

I have an very strong aversion to anything with angels on it. I think personally people place too much attention..almost worshiping them. I find the concept of adoring angels kinda blasphamous and disrespectful to their boss. hehehe Winged horses don't bother me or people with wings. But mythical winged people I find appealing. Just in context with "angels". I put a small bear on my tree at xmas. So anyway like I said I have an strong aversion to anything glorifying angels. Not sure if that counts but it is the only think that irritates me in sales and merchandising.

I'm not a christian, but i have to agree with the angels thing... Not sure many people who make floaty looking angels or this trend of guardian angels, actually know anything about the angels and their purpose. tra la la

Oh and if i want to be extra whinny... I will further add I find bad spelling in/on promo images and titles on products in the MP very annoying. Spelling things as they sound or are pronounced in an American accent. I'm English and it really makes my teeth itch... hehehe psssst... I make no apologies for any spelling mistakes i make here... :P -SimderZ- xXx

How funny... She has also always struck me as a primo drag (didn't want to say bitch - oops, I said it...). At first, you marvel at the render, the 'realism' of it; but then that smarmy, 'I could care less' look becomes apparent and you want to get Stephy in there to give her a good slap or shaking... goodness! : ) I hope Baron pipes in about this - it would be interesting to know what he (I assume he) thinks about all our latent angst over this girl. : ) Perhaps he'll do us a special render with the girl all smiles. Maybe she can be redeemed. I get the feeling though that she runs things at Baron's house and I suspect she won't have ANY of it. [big wink] Dave

well, you have to give the guy credits for creating an virtual babe that can provoke such reaction. most other, except steffy's, byte _me_ok's and a very few others, have that plastic, non-realistic style that seems to be so popular these days. bvh's figure has some personality indeed (like it or not!).

I'll make popcorn and cheer 'im on. Howdy Dave. Long time. ;]

I'm turned off by typos in promos. Lacks a certain professional quality. :)

Seconded. Typos in promos don't bother me. There are a lot of people here for whom English is not a first language.

Typos don't bother me as much as just plain poor use of the written word. I've seen promos with stuff like: R U looking 4 a kewl nekkid Vicki texture? Than this is 4 U!!! I understand using annoying abbreviations on a text message on your phone when you have limited characters, but when you use it in everyday written advertising copy, you're just proving you're a clueless kid. At least, that's how I see it. I would never, ever in a million years buy anything from someone for whom English is apparently their native tongue and yet they can't manage to type out complete words. ;-) bonni

And it seems like the truncated spelling trend is going to persist... Email is drastically changing typed English and I know as a result that people's spelling is getting even worse - and what's worse, they don't really know they're in error - enough time and examples have gone by that some people think misspelled words are actually correct... or acceptable. The dumbing down of America is real and unfortunately people think it's ok. They laugh and exclaim, "Oh, I'm so stupid". Let me tell you, folks, a scant few years ago (20) people used to be ashamed to be stupid - not any more... We've made stupid acceptable by publishing "books for dummies" and by not correcting people when they're wrong - that's not politically correct. And being politically correct basically means lying to people (don't hurt their feelings - omit, omit) which we in America seem to prefer over learning and being corrected. When I was a kid, there was a phrase, "Use your head". Can anyone honestly remember when they last heard anyone say that? We weren't just given answers - we had to think. It was even ok for a stranger to tell a kid to use their head... not anymore. I'm only 40 and in 20 years I've seen this country change into a country where a lot of people don't take responsibility for their actions (or anyone else's) and whose people have willingly become dolts... and it is definitely not the country I was told I would be an adult in. Our social mores have changed completely - and we've got a couple generations coming in now who have no idea how we used to be so the country I knew is almost effectively gone... Wow, Sorry for the slight veering into off-topic. It is likely that I've wanted to tell a 'mass' that for a long while. : ) Dave

Dave... You're getting old. ;-) ;-P bonni (who says "Use your head" or "Where's your brain?" all the time)
