Subject: Poser Five Questions

Ok, I was waiting in line at the university bookstore today to pick up what few of my books were in stock for this semester and there it was, Poser 5, sitting there, taunting me, calling out to me...I had to punish it for its mockery by purchasing it and taking it home. Now the nightmare begins. I read either here or in the Poser101 emails that there was a way to have P5 read your P4 files so you don't have to reinstall everything you own into the P5 file structure. Is this so, and if it is, how do you get it to work? Also, what's up with that Content Room thingie? They could have left that out and sped up the program, I think. It's gonna be an uphill learning curve, but I think I can do it, with the groups help. Stand by for heavy seas, crew...I'll have bunches of questions to pester the mates with. Tony O

Yes, you can link your P5 Library to external runtimes, even on other drives or removable media. jelisa wrote a tutorial describing the process shortly after P5 was released.

Netherworks posted a tutorial over at PoserPros explaining how to remove Content Paradise (or at least the tab) from Poser 5.

Make certain you download and install Service Release 3 from Curious Labs; it fixes a lot of problems, improves performance and stability, and only adds a couple of new bugs.

Take your !DAZ file which is in your poser 4 folder in your libraries folder and make an identical copy. Put it into the libraries folder of your runtime in poser 5. Then open poser 5 and keep arrowing up after you go to figures until you see a runtime library icon with a red dot. Select a new runtime and browse to your poser 4 runtime. The first time I used it (which was a few days ago as I'm a poser 5 newbie too) it couldn't find one texture. I told it where it was and ever since then it finds all textures hapilly. Good luck. Have fun. Love esther
