Subject: Intro & Newbie Question: Starship Building 101

Hi! I'm new to Renderosity, Bryce3D and this forum. I received Bryce 3D free from 3DWorld magazine (www.3dworldmag.com) and can't wait to great stuff like all the great images I've seen from everyone. I am particularly interested in creating starships but have no clue how to begin. Does anyone know of any tutorials on building starships in Bryce? I saw a tutorial at http://v1.scifi-art.com/discovery/1701/1701tut.htm on creating the original Enterprise in 3D Studio Max 2.5. Can the same techniques be used in Bryce? How would I start to create this in Bryce3D v3.1? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can't give you a tutorial. But the first thing you should learn in Bryce is Boolean-Operaton and grouping & transforming Objects.I'm sure you can create with these functions your Spaceship. Check the Manual if available.

Place a search in the gallery for Digital&Sparky. He uploaded a starship tutorial in there a few weeks ago. It consisted of Bryce primitives.

Do you mean "The 30 Minute Fighter" picture? It's a great start but I'm really looking to model something like the Enterprise in Bryce. Thanks for the info though!

Good luck in this, as it will take ALOT of time and patience - as Bryce really isnt a modelling application. You can use Boolean Operations to make them however: Check out http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?ByArtist=Yes&Artist=ApexB For some examples. Good Luck to you. -James

for a newbie you're biting off a big chunk :) and i admire your ambition. can;t really help with the modling aspect as i'm more into interiors and fantasy landscapes however i do most of my modling in bryce using primitives and it takes a lot of patence and time... definately learn the ins and outs of boolean rendering and grouping it will healp you in your quest.

hi I actually did this very thing for my first bryce project with Bryce2 about 5 years ago. The model (totally Bryce) is at my site. I think that if you download it and take it apart, you can learn how to do some modeling. I was doing it for a little thing I called "Wartrek" at the time...but I got over it..heh http://www.brycetech.com/ Brycetech
