MarketPlace Showcase F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 27 6:56 pm)
It would depend on the price, but I would be interested in her. What model is this for? There is not much you can do about products being traded on p2p networks. It seems that the number of people that actually pay for items is high enough that many merchants can earn money at textures. It really depends on how much you want to make. very few merchants actually make a lot of money selling poser stuff.
She's a nice texture, Horseflesh I would like to have her especially for V3 as I don't use V2 much anymore. How did you learn she would be on PTP Network so quickly? Has someone released her there as is without your consent? It's true some people use the PTP networks, but many like myself buy their textures to support hardworking artist. And my Bank Account proves it. :) She almost reminds me of when 7 of 9 was first captured and they still had many of her implants installed. She has great texturing and is a very unique character.
should have waited before pressing post reply. Perhaps to get an idea of how much the texture is wanted you could put a 'light' version in free stuff say either the tattooed or non V2 texture to get an idea download/feedback wise a good ball park of how many people are interested in more options,or a V3 version etc then from there decide if you want to make a full MP version.
I'm sure I could use her as well...very interesting hybrid.
In regards to the p2p issue: I've been a merchant for a little while now (formerly here, now at PoserPros), and while yes, things eventually show up on the p2p networks, it's not something you should angst over if you want to get started as a merchant. Keep your focus on producing quality products, and the honest folk will continue to buy them.
In my experience, the folks who DL from the p2p networks fall into a couple of main types:
The previewer - DL's the product, and if they like it, they buy it anyway. (Not a lot of these, but some)
The collector- MUST have everything ever made for Poser, so DL's it all...then archives it and never touches it. No real loss here.
The casual - Sees the promo images, finds the item, makes a render or two, and moves on to the next shiny object. Wouldn't have purchased anyway, so no loss there either.
In any event, don't let the p2p thing deter you. If you have the drive, have the talent, and produce products people like and want to use, they will sell. You may not get rich, but you can make enough to warrant the work, and have a little extra pocket money.

Thanks so much everyone.I will be finishing her up for V2 soon, and then converting her for V3.I really appreciate your time and advice. Jaesha,I did my study on p2p networks usind Winmx.I focussed on a new release from Daz3d.I did a search for Daz3D every day on the p2p program In less than a week, it was listed as available on winmx...But I tend to agree with chrome tiger....
I think a majority of people that get things on p2p are people that would never purchase the items anyways. If they couldn't get it for free, they wouldn't want it. It sucks seeing your stuff there but there isn't anything you can do about it so best not to let it bother you too much. Consider it the unfortunate price of doing business on the internet.
