Subject: Opera Browser Gallery Problems.

johnyf ( ) posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 6:55 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 10:54 AM

I was wandering if anybody else who uses the Opera Browser has had problems viewing images in the galleries. Everything was fine until a few days ago and now I can view images in ads and on the home page etc but not in the galleries. I have checked my settings to make sure it allows images and even redownloaded Opera but still nothing. Could it be that there have been changes somehow to the rendo server? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks John.

No changes to the server that I am aware of.. Did you try clearing the browser cache? Make sure you PC time/date is correct.. You should aslo try logging out and then log back in.. let me know if that helps.. Bruce

Hi Bruce. Have tried that and still no good. When I view the gallery I just get a blank space where the image should be. If I right click on it and click "load image" nothing happens but if I right click and click "open image" I get the following; "Error 403." "You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read protected or not readable by the server." I can't help thinking though that it's probably my settings however I haven't altered any of them and I am able to view images in galleries on other sites!

Sorry, computer illiterate, whats a UA string look like and where do I find it!LOL

If you're using Opera, you can choose which browser you want to identify as, as not every site is aware of the fact there are other browsers than MSIE. If you go to File > Quick Preferences you'll see a small menu that says identify as Opera, Identify as Mozilla, Identify as MSIE. The Identify as is your UA = User agent. I've used Opera for years at rendo, haven't had problems with the galleries. You can also ask for help in the forums at my.opera.com - I know their tech support frequents them quite a lot. ~S

Thanks spinner I tried that and no matter which one I put to identify with it makes no difference. I'll go and try the Opera forum you mentioned - thanks anyway! - John.

Hi Johny, sounds like a cookie problem. Check to make sure you're allowing regular cookies and third-party cookies. R'osity's galleries are on a separate server that doesn't share cookies with the main server, so without the third-party cookies, the thumbs and images will come up blank while banners, logos, and forum post images still display. File > Preferences > Privacy > Third Party Cookies
