Subject: Hotkey List

kimpe ( ) posted Thu, 15 January 2004 at 2:03 AM · edited Fri, 27 February 2026 at 8:26 AM

Hi Folks, I'm new to Poser and this forum. I have a Q about hotkeys. Does anyone out there have a complete list of the hotkeys. Yes, I have read the manual, and searched with Google and such. I could spend hours pushing keys and writing them down, but I figure It's alot simpler just to ask the experts. If anyone would be so kind and send me one you have my thanks. Just IM and leave me a message. I hope to be conversing with all of you in the future. Thanks....

The full list of keyboard shortcuts is on the back of the Quick Reference Card that comes with the boxed version of the program.

I forgot about that. I had it stuffed in the bookcase. Thanks Phil.

Stuffed in the bookcase? Ack! I have 3 or 4 of those cards tucked next to the machine (Bryce and other programs have them, too) so that I can have one hand on the mouse and the other on the keyboard and not have to poke through menus.

Then there are the hidden shortcuts. Many know that in Poser 4 if you type the word hair you will open up a new window called TreeMaker which can do funky hairy stuff. Now what can be found hidden in Poser 5?

:chuckle: "Something for the weekend"? Is that why your beard was all spiked and pommaded? Carolly

Wow, Philc, I had no idea about that 'hair' window thingy in Poser 4. Are there any other 'easter eggs' built into the program? However did you find it? Rnce PS. I always knew you were a mad genius.

I think that the tree room was suppose to be in poser 4 but couldn't get it to work properly like the hair room in poser 5, that is my thoughts only.

I note that when I render the scene in Poser 4, after having loaded an object from the 'hair' window, the object does not show up in the final image. Too bad. It looks like it would make good grass clumps or something. Yours, Rnce

hauksdottir ( ) posted Thu, 15 January 2004 at 9:53 PM

The TREE function was in Poser3, and it didn't render or do a couple other things so they didn't include it as part of the official program (but left it in there anyway). There are ways to export the growth (we've made chia-everything over the last few years). If you have it showing in your window, you can save that view.

odeathoflife ( ) posted Fri, 16 January 2004 at 12:30 PM

there is also a script or something that will export the splines as geometry (hairhair or something maybe someone will know where to get it)

Thanks odeathoflife, That would be great if some one knew how to do that (or what to do it with). Something new to play with. Philc, been visiting your site. The key thingy is pretty cool. Yours, Rnce

I think you are refering to FURFUR by Masa? Check Poser++ site (or any of the Japanese sites since they are nice about linking to each other).

Uhmmm...Okay, I've gone through every page in my Poser5 manual and I cannot find this Quick Reference Card. It says that it should be Fold-out Card, but I don't have it.

Any suggestions?

Nevermind.....crawled under the desk and pulled out the box. It was in there. sheepish grin

Good! The design of those cards is very clever. The software companies realize that a lot of people don't bother to read the manuals, so they need to get a whopping amount of information assembled in a tight space... and much of the information included is time saving tips. Carolly
