Sometimes Poser 5 spins forever looking for a lost texture or bump map. Is there any way to stop the process without completely shutting down the program?

Why not download CorrectReference from Free Stuff. Let it correct any bad texture references, and repeat the process whenever you install or save new stuff. Problem solved.

Sometimes the "locate file" browser box can get hidden behind the main Poser screen. You can try minimizing Poser and see if it's there. When this is not the case you can just wait. And wait and wait and wait for it to pop up. If these two methods don't work then no, I don't believe there is any other way than shutting down.
