Subject: TOS Contravention?

layingback ( ) posted Tue, 03 February 2004 at 12:04 PM · edited Sat, 27 July 2024 at 4:28 PM

We recently had the "Special Poser Forum Announcement" with the latest variant of the TOS. Link at top of page - every page. In partic. Spike listed as no-no's in this forum:

  • Posting adverts

and:

  • Anything that is not Poser related.

So what's with the e-on ad right above that "Special Poser Forum Announcement"? I think I know, but don't want to make it too easy ;-)

Sigh. I know what it's doing there and so do you, but posts like this just give Them something to pounce on. Please don't feed the animals.

Aw, come on. If we don't want the moderators to pick nits, we shouldn't either. Besides, the e-on banner is an ad, not a member-generated posting. For what it's worth, there have been plenty of appropriate discussions here about using Poser in conjunction with Vue d'Esprit. :-)

You mean it's not meant to be a link to e-Frontier Curious Labs parent company?

e-on are currently running a competition for Poser users here at Renderosity which they will be judging and for which they are providing all the prizes. That is why their logo is above their competition at the top of the forum. It is Poser related. Shoshanna.

What we mean is it's not a member-generated post. If you want to nit-pick, there are ads all over this Poser Forum, why there's a big one at the top of the page that leads right to the Market Place! Horrors! Before anyone else comes along, Vue is a prize in the Contest. Mash those coals into the ground before the fire starts. Or I get my silly and poorly created horse animation out.

Nit-picking here will do you a lot of good.

About like throwing rocks at streetlamps.

I went to a TOS Contravention once. The costumes were great, the food was weird, gotta love them Trekkies! :) Regards- Lemurtek

I think he means contradiction...

No, I meant "contravention, n. Infringement (in ~ of, violation)." The Concise Oxford Dictionart, Fifth Ed. But I would have ridden too close to a contravention of the TOS myself if I had used a word whose stem was from 'violate', no? ;-) Picking nits? Perhaps, but the increasing number of double standards here were getting to me, especially after another barrage of spam emails courtesy of Renderosity. But I've said my piece here.
