Subject: What I would like to see for the P4 Male _Sorry, Michael (ATTN: Vethril)

Can't afford Michael, so I would like to make the P4 guy as best as he can be... What I have... ---------------- P4 Male with over 200 morphs, Nerd's realistic Eyes, and nearly redone texture map. What I would like to have done?... ---------------- Have all the morphs translated to Vethril's Hi-res version and since I suspect the chest and forearm morphs won't carry over, I will redo my "Physique" and "Chubby" body morphs for the High res male if Vethril will help translate the facial morphs I have done so far over to her high res version. What I would like to do... --------------------- Start coming up with characters and clothes for the P4 Male and put out a character every week with the above mentioned figure changes. This would allow people to have ready-made male extras with hi-res features when they needed them that most of the clothes would already fit for bcause there are enough clothes out there for the Poser 4 Male.I can do the figure changes (some rescaling and body morphs). Clothes I have rarely done and never done well so I would ask for help from modellers and texturers. I crank out the basic figure, you help color and clothe him. Each month. If we were to all pitch in, we could do themes much like the ancient Egypt theme going on right now. We could then have a group of characters from periods in time or from sci-fi novels or tv shows for every month. I can easily crank out a couple of new characters (sans clothes) every week once we get the figure working. If others wanted to do the same for the the female figure, that would be cool. If you want samples of my characters, you can check out the Character Creator forum and look up Prince Leorus, Queegle, Male Elf, and Hobbit. I also made the "Physique" morphs which made a more muscular body for the P4 male (You can see it on a lot of figures over at the 3D-CC including Batman and Superman) In summary, I would like to make the P4 Male the best it can be (hi-res features, tons of morphs, Nerd's eyes, etc) then start cranking out characters. I would like volunteers to help make clothes and textures for periods in time or from certain genres. What do you think?

I can texture stuff okay but forget modelling ... Don't care about the Hi-res thing so much since the fact is that it would simply kill my puter and only be visible in close-ups ... Don't think it is meant to serve as a substitute. But I digress. Good luck

Well, what would you think if he were just normal res and have a hires alternative? Could someone show me in wireframe the difference between the Hires version and the normal version? What about hires only for head?

I love the idea. The trouble with Michael(and Vicky) is that you still have to purchase clothes, hair, textures and on and on. All over and above the initial investment in the figure. That can run into a lot of loot. I personally don't want to invest even $39.95 for a naked, bald Poser. I got Vicky and was fooled. I just can't see spending $l9.95, or whatever, every time I want a new hairstyle. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking seriously of trying to scale Posette's stuff for Vicky. Has anybody got any hints for that?

To foser a little understanding about what the Hires version of the Male that Veth did..and all other Hires figures, for that matter. This is done with a Max plugin called pNurbs that in effect quadruples the number of faces in the mesh while at the same time smoothing the added vertex's to the original ones so in effect the edges become smoother. The obj file become correpondingly larger and will tax Poser with 4 times the faces to render as the original figure. Unless you're doing a closeup, Poser does well enough smothing the figure to make the Hires figures added face count mute.

Yeah .. what Foxhollow said ... I simply don't do enough, full out head shot with nothin else in the frame to care that much. I mean it is great and all for close ups but unless I am doing a character shot I don't really do hyper tight stuff.

We still need more textures and clothing, and morphs at the very least for poor Poser dude. He's terribley neglected, and his wardrobe really needs updating, as does his hair. Please?

Lets make the Poser4 Dude BETTER than Michael and for FREE!That sounds nice :)!

While my laptop can handle hi-res, and I am in need of hi-res men for a project in progress, my wallet cannot afford Michael and accessories. If the p4 man can get at least a little support, I would be more than happy to make textures for such things if they're needed. Pleeeeeeease. Because I hate having to spend a day in photoshop post-prodding to dedork him. :) Thankee.

Well I've made one male character for release - working out a bug in number 2. Willing to make double version, 1 reg one for modified figure if anyone wants. Also, willing to make textures for any model - just send the obj uvmapped already. Skins as well as clothing textures. :) I am a RL artist - so painting texture is the FUN part :) Fiddling with the @#$@#$ program is the hard part. Think it would be a great idea to have some effort out into it - posettes gotting all the attention so far. If someone could duplicate all the posette face morphs for the Dude we'd be more than halfway there. Had some issues with my last guy that two of possettes morphs would have fixed easily, but had to settle for what I could get. :(

I like the idea of just having the Hires head on the normal body. In my opinion it would make more detailed morphs a lot easier (I tried doing a Klingon head morph and bout halfway thru had to start going to the back of the head to get vertices!). Thought of doing a hires version of the head for it, but still wanted to be able to use all the other morphs for the head. I might be able to contribute some textures (for both the figure and the clothes) and some clothes. Keep me posted. Dave
