You can do it. Have you tried using a MAC shader on a PC? If not E-Mail me a shader from your MAC and I'll try it on my PC. I created my shader pack on the PC. They didnt work very well on the MAC due to a few other things that the MAC file needs that the PC doesnt have...Some naming items...I cant recall the specifics. MetaCreations converted my PC shaders to MAC format for me.. ;) Going from MAC to PC might work. If you want to try send one to me and I'll give it a go ASAP. Carrara shaders are just text files. If you create one on the MAC then you have to open it up in a text editor like Word or BebEddit and re-save as a "text" file. Then you need to add the file extension .cbr to the end of the file & it should work. Shader files made on the PC can be used on MAC OS by: Drag the file onto ResEdit to open it. Click "OK" to the dialog box that says "opening this file will add a resource fork". Then "get info" for the file and change the File Type to CBRF and change the Creator Code to CRRA. Save your changes and then add the file to the Carrara>Presets>Shaders>"any folder" and then "update folder" in the Carrara browser window. PC Carrara "scene" files can be opened from within the application (can't double-click file to launch & open) without any modifications to the text file. I think that will work as I don't have access to a Windows machine with Carrara on it.

Epsilon, I got your MAC shader. I dropped it into a shader folder that I am currently using, fired up Carrara and there was the shader. I dropped it on a sphere for a quick render. Looks perfect. It appears that going from MAC to PC is no big deal since the PC doesnt use the same file information that the MAC seems to need. Its some kind of Author or header information needed when going from PC to MAC. Um, Its what willf said. I just re-read his message. willf, I didnt have to doa thing to the file when I got it. FYI only, Clint Anyway - Looks fine. Clint

Clint, good to hear that. What seems odd to me is that MAC OS can open a PC Carrara scene file without going throuh hoops first. Not so with the shaders, they need a "resource" file, type & code to work. No big deal once you do a couple of times but it is somewhat intimmidateing to the new users.
