As I mentioned previously at the attached link, this will be the present (WIP) for you. It is pretty close to finish it. Your helps were very useful. Thank you very much.

The sword consists of several groups to apply your favorite material to each part. Probably, you just need color, bump, and reflection. You may also want to use color, and reflection maps for the blade.

Is it acceptable to give you the sword object without textures? Please let me know.
Although, it take more time, I may prepare the texture too ?
The above picture is the sword without textures. Can you apply your favorite material to the each part in Poser5 Material Room, or in Poser4? I think it is pretty easy, and strait forward, except blade.

Lets me point out the possible problem. It is a high resolution object. It has about 23k polygons without the cross. One reason is that this object has complicated smooth curves. The tiny cross was also high resolution. It had 39k which was larger than the sword. We certainly could remove it. The Poser test rendering time of the sword including the cross (no texture) was about 25 second with Poser5 Firefly Production mode including cast shadow in the Main window. 2GHz PC. It seems OK to me if you dont have crowded scene. It may not be good for animation.

Let me know whether you would like to have it with or without the cross.

To anyone who did not participate in before, send me a quick message, if you would like to use this sword.
I will present it to anyone who expresses the desire to use it. You can use it freely for commercial or noncommercial rendering works. (You can not distribute the mesh or the sword object)

I was not sure if people wanted it since there were many free or inexpensive swords around, and if you were modeler, you could easily make it. In case you did not need it, I thank you for your kind helps, and this is my last report about sword.

This is one example of the sword with textures. I applied some material (color, bump, and reflection) to each part in Cinema4D. By the way, if you would like to use the ornament you can have it.

This is Poser5 FireFly rendering. I simply used the poser preset light Nice Blue. Sword with no texture.

If I didn't mention this in the Modelling Forum; this is a very nice sword and is a very kind gift textured or not. I am impressed by the detail. I think you may have raised the bar.

This is a lovely sword, Himico! I'd sure love to use it :) I'm always looking for some good swords. If you have a texture template - I might try my hand at making a texture for it. I've never done it before, so the result might end up a mess, but... I'll try anything once! Silke

I note that someone in the MP is trying to sell swords like this at $65 a throw. I wonder how many he's sold?

ookami ( ) posted Fri, 13 February 2004 at 9:16 AM

I like the sword. It might be a tad large on the polygons... but stil nicely detailed. As for the other sword in RMP. $65 a sword is just way to much for me. I could buy 32 platinum club items for that price. I could buy 13 of Questor's sword packs for that. I could buy 26 RDNA hot deals for that. Let's put it in perspective.... it's a sword. This is Poser. Those prices may be ok if you plan on rendering in 3DMax... but I think it's grossly overpriced for Poser. That's my 2 cents... and with inflation and the current dollar exchange rate... that's worth squat.

at that price, he only has to sell 1..;) [there is a prop place that shall remain nameless, something to do with a sea creature..maybe that's where it came from?..;] heck, you can get real swords at that price..;) Sure, it's an excellent model, and the texture part doesn't bother me (I've given out many an untextured model..well, maybe not that many, but no complaints yet..;) You could even sell it..just not at $65 and change..;) keep it up.

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Good point... for $65, I can buy a real sword! =) Hmmm... maybe I'll do that. I could use a new rapier for the renaisance faires!

ookami, you haven't seen my nihontou yet!! (referring to polygon count). It will be a tad less expensive than these $65 whoppers, though, and has interchangeable parts, morphs, BONES! I will make announcement when ready to post in Product Showcase forum (soon).

The two best sword packs I've ever bought were RDNA Blade Volume I and Travelers Weapons Pack. Both are excellent quality, textured weapons... many with morphs for blade length, blade width, two-handed grip, etc. It will be hard to beat either of those.

Thank you for your interests in my sword. I am grad you will use it.
I will let you know later.

That right, you may be able to buy a real sword.
But you can also buy real clothes for the money you pay for Vicky.

Spend money for real thing !
