I've been here long enough without starting one of these, so here goes!

Open to everyone, entrants are to write a LIMERICK in honor of St. Patrick's Day OR on the virtues of being Irish (if even for a day).

The challenge begins February 18 and will remain open until 00:01 Renderosity time on March 13. Votes will be entered in a thread that will be started at the close of the entry period.

When uploading your limerick, you will need to include a thumbnail and main image (sample images provided on the contest announcement are acceptable). You may substitute images of your own creation as an alternative to those provided.

All submitted materials must meet Renderosity's Terms of Service.

Great idea....this is not a contest entry (as you know) but I can't resist posting it here: On St. Pat's, all as Irish are seen, So give some luck to lad or colleen At Renderosity, For a challenge witty, Here's the test, write a limerick clean. I doubt if it scans, but I don't care. Have fun all!

From PBSkids.org here is a handy definition of a limerick in case anyone needs a reminder. I did. ;-) Should be fun. jon LIMERICKS are poems with five lines with a special beat and rhyming pattern: Lines 1, 2 and 5 have 9 beats and the last words rhyme. Lines 3 and 4 have 6 beats and rhyme with each other.

I should have checked the challenge thread first. I see you have a definition of the limerick posted there. Oops. jon

Repetition never hurts. :)

I think the definition you dug up is easier to understand and is a bit more helpful. That's the reason for the link to some examples. Should've checked PBSkids instead of a dictionary.

A tasty limmerick. :) Did you know I'm half Polish?

Well I couldn't put it in the contest so I put it here...My wife was up to her neck in paczi all day because the bekery and deli are the same.

Just for the record. The thumb you provided for the contest is sized at 124 x 124 and will have to be resized to use it.

GonWaki ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 4:03 PM

It orginally was 100x and was tested prior to opening the contest. What happened is anyone's guess but I am in the process of uploading a new thumbnail. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

I am such a procrastinator, Oh, I'm sure I'll get to it latter. But the time has run out I can't cry, I can't pout. And my hopes now lie in a crater. :-) Man, I can't believe I missed the deadline. I really did intend to enter, but time somehow slipped away. Oh well, there's always next time. I'll go read all the entries over again and vote. If I can remember to get around to it! jon

As per our noble moderators suggestion~ here is my um, a. . . Whoops! Looks like I missed the date~ Oh well. Been as busy as an Irish talk. Well anyway, heres one I did just for fun~ There once was a lass always late no matter the moment or date. . . but she took it in stride when her momma did chide 'cause she knew that the "best catches" wait~ Yours truly, Rendered2Blue aka *SASk. . .

Although you missed the challenge, you still made it in plenty of time for St. Pat's Day proper. That's what matters most.
