Subject: Multipart model and smooth edges problem ??

Ok, first off, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to modeling. I have rendered and set scenes for years but actually modeling is something I just started. I have modeled a car that is made up of the following parts: Top (Includes Hood and trunk) Driver side Passenger side Front Rear Chassis I split these into separate parts because it was the only way I could get good UV mapping for texturing. Here is my problem: Where the edges of a part come into contact with the other parts, they are very sharp. When I render with say HDRI, the part of the car facing the camera (like the rear end) looks great and smooth, but a part not purely on the same angle as that part looks goofy. For example, the rear end looks fine, but the top part looks like a cartoon or not shaded. If I tilt the camera to look at mostly the top, then the top render looks good but the rear now has ugly shading. I'm guessing the edges around the vehicle are too sharp. Without having to redo the whole vehicle or redo all the UV mapping and texture maps, is there an EASIER way in C3 to have the edges of one part smooth and match the smoothed edges of another car part? I have gone into the Vertex editor and smoothed all the car parts edges, tried different HDRI's, used no HDRI lighting, GI.. Nothing seems to do it. All car pieces use the same master shader for everything except for the texture maps.

Well, I seem to figured it out on my own. For SOME reason, if the objects are all using the same texture domain the lighting doesn't do correctly. I basically created a texture domain for each part, booleaned them together, then wala! Oh well :) Now if someone can just explain WHY that is that way ??

Wish I could answer the why, but I can't.... I can say that this is a nice model, though. Looking forward to seeing it complete!
