Subject: Poser 5 vs Poser 4/PP morph compatibility

spamboy ( ) posted Tue, 24 February 2004 at 7:01 PM ยท edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 12:14 PM

I've created some facial morphs in poser 5. they do not seem to work in Poser 4. Is there any way to make poser 5 morphs backwards compatible with poser 4/PP (I do not have 4 to test them in) I am working with the Freak with its head morphs and M3 head morphs applied. Any help you have would be appreciated.

Morphs created in P5 ought to work in P4 and PP. The only problem I've had is if I took a morph and split it in P5. (I created a grin then made a LeftGrin and a RightGrin.) To get those to work in previous versions, I had to: Set one split morph to 1 File: Export the head as a morph target Delete the original Split morph. Object: Load Morph target (choosing the morph I'd created.) I did that for each morph I created in P5 then saved the character file to the library again. I was then able to load the .cr2 in P4 and PP and get the split morphs to work. Normal magnet morphs in P5 ought to work. If you're using someone else's morphs (DAZ or otherwise), you can not create new morphs based off of those morphs and redistribute them without the original creator's explicit permission. You can create face files with the pose information and distribute those, though. Hope that helps, Cres

They are my own morphs I'm trying to broker through Daz. I'll check them for split morphs to see if that is the problem. Thanks

If Daz morphs are involved, do you have the !DAZ folder in both your P5 and P4 runtimes?

yup it is there in P5. I do not have P$ so I really can't test it. I'm taking Daz's word that they do not function in p4. I'm willing to send anyone one of the morphs if they want to play around with it.

Morphs I've created in P5 work in P4 and Pro Pack, including split morphs. Download Tobi 2.0 (or the Alexa and lion Mimic updates) and see for yourself. Admittedly, I did transfer the morphs to a blank CR2 with Morph Manager while preparing the files for distribution, but they worked beforehand, also.
