Ah, the sorrow of a lost camera. I too just suffered a loss most grevious to me. My scanner. But I have compensated by using my new Canon EOS 300D camera as a method of recording my prints till I can replace the said scanner. Instead of wandering the halls, why not pick up a 35mm and take some pics? My heart goes out to you
Ah, the old pentax. i used a pentax k1000 many years ago when i first started in forensics. A good work horse camera. I remember I once dropped mine into the chest cavity of a corpse we were doing an autopsy on. cleaned it off and it still worked great. So, you should learn to use the 35mm. It will help you understand and take better pics with your digital.
go for it. and most places will burn your prints onto cd for you to download onto your computer. you might even like it so much that you decide to start up a darkroom. Hint, if you're going to do black and white, dont take the film to your local wallmart or places like that. they batch process the film and it will come out flat. Best to find a custom lab and let them know what sort of results you want from the negs. Keep a log of what you shoot, what lens, aperature, shutter speeds and lighting conditions too. These factors impact on how your neg will look and what you want from it. Sorry about the ewwwww. I'm a forensic investigator and we have a rather different sense of humor. Its all i can do to keep from posting blood spatter photo's on here. lol, just kidding.
I'm sorry! Didn't mean to traumatize anyone! Mom and I decided to let dad have an outdoor kitchen.. so we won't have to deal with him as often. And we'll still have all the equipment! Maybe one day the darkroom will return! I'm trying to convince my mother to get back into photography, and maybe, as a result, we can make a new.. even better darkroom. :D
life is like a box of chocolates. you never know what you're gonna get. Unless you cruelly rip out a darkroom and replace it with an outdoor kitchen! What the heck is an outdoor kitchen anyway? And whats wrong with an indoor one? You'll have to forgive me, but there are so few darkrooms remaining in this world. Sigh.
awww...poor ickle little miss...your camera will return soon, and as the wise addiek says, this will help shape your creativity. I must just say that I've really enjoyed the talk of blood spatter and chest cavities this morning...I look forward to seeing said photos. Life truly is a box of chocolates...and I'm allergic to them :|
Don't listen to anyone! Outdoor kitchen does create! And you can always invite your friends bugs to participate! :-P Give your dad my best wishes for the kitchen -- we loose kitchens in the world along with the dark rooms... Meanwile you can practise on Photoshop and make fun... maybe you'll like it even more than making shots (I don't believe it myself, but miracles could happen) Take care, dar!
Whoa! Your going to try a 35mm camera Kim?! Bravo! I have one...wait, 3 35mm cameras...well, one is my dad's but I use it...I use my Nikon whenever. Wal-Mart can burn your pictures to CD for 3.84 or something...I don't remember the price (even though I work at the photolab at Wal-Mart) LOL! Well, Good luck hon! Keep your chin up! You might find you will like the 35mm more then your digital... :o) Only one can hope! Jinx
Dear Kim.... using a traditional slr is no different than using the old digital... :~) the only patience needed is to wait for them to come back from the lab and these days that shouldn't take more than a day.... You take fabulous images with that camera of yours, I'm sure your film work would be fabulous too... But no matter, I can relate to the loss of the camera. When my Dimage 7 fell and I broke the lens I had to wait over 2 months for it to come back.... it was hellish, but it made me pick up my old slr and I fell back in love with film....

There aren't many places to get film developed around here (the nearest town seems to be going down the toilet, wal-mart is closing, so the other stores are probably going too), so I would be making many half-hour to one hour drives in order to do so. And why are you so keen on converting me to film?? Does this have something to do with the darkroom?? Hmm?? Like I said.. I MIGHT try film.. So when will we get to see some of your photos from work? :P
Gee girl you live in the boonies!! I feel for you.... nothing around here is closer than 20 minutes away.

hugz into that middle of a swampy nothing. Feeling with you dear wee one and take care not to get lured into that film thingie g. Btw: kitchen are great, be they in the house or outside. As Serious already stated, you could create great things in there .. that as an answer to your final question .. no use in eating anything out of the darkroom ;)

Yes, it has happened... after 7 long months of loyal service.. my camera has to be sent off to Fuji for repairs. :((( Last week, I d/led a few pictures to my computer, and while I was postworking them... I noticed a hot pixel appearing in the top left corner of each image. It was not very noticable after resizing, and can easily be cloned out.. but I decided it best to fix this problem now before my warranty expires.. and before the flowers start blooming, and the bugs start swarming... sigh What will I do without my sweet little darling camera? sob If you see me wandering the halls of 'rosity with a blank stare... just keep walking. I'll be fine, I promise. Maybe now I'll actually do some school work.. :( Just wanted to let you guys know that I might not be posting for a little while, but I'll still be watching... sniffle group huggles Kim
