Subject: radial light domes

can someone explain to me how to use the radial light domes. i want to try and get some really cool renders but there not turning out like i thought they would. does anyone know of a tut somewhere. thank you in advance

There's two reasons to use a light dome. First, to illuminate a scene more naturally. For example, the light from a white light bulb comes from millions of points along the surface of the bulb. A simple radial Bryce light doesn't do this. A candle's light comes from many points in the shape of a flame, also Radial lights don't do this, unless you use many. Using a light dome will illuminate a scene from as many different points as your patience (render time) can handle... Also, Soft shadows. Bryce 5 can pull these off with one individual light, but it's still slow and doesn't add the same kind of illumination as a light globe. A globe can have only 12 or 20 lights in it to be effective, and still render faster than 1 light with Soft Shadows turned on... Here's a good link...
