Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 11 6:36 am)
P5 min req for mac is 500mhz G3 running osx 10.2 and since P5 is STILL demanding the cpu do ALL the rendering work on top of its normal work of running the system so it most likely will be worsethan you have now. btw, how much memory you got in there?
Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.
My poser 4 in classic mode used to run okay until I installed panther then it slowed to be non-useable. I switched to poser 5 which isn't as slow but still slow, and I think poser 4 in jaguar was faster from memory. But anyway I'm sort of glad I've got poser 5 now, and I suspect when I one day get my G5 and tons of ram that poser 5 will be faster. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
HA HA HA! Poser, fast, and OSX should never be in the same sentence. Have a dual 533 with 1.5Gigs of ram and my 1ghz AMD with 512mb of ram pc still out renders it. Some day I'll break open my Blender book and figure it out and have a 3D app that will actually support both my processors, but I guess by then I'll have finally saved up for a G5. Poser will probably be slow on that too.
I think vue d'esprit uses both processors, maybe? Well don't buy the G5 yet as a faster one is coming out soon. Love esther

I have a 450Mhz G4 (Sawtooth) with over 1 gig of ram. Poser 4 in OS 9 (rebotted into OS 9.2) or via Classic mode crawls on my system. Is the OS X version faster with screen re-draws and posing? Usually, I make do with the box preview when posing, but I like having that full preview going. Rendering time ain't much a worry, since I don't anti-alias and I use few lights and shadows. It's that posing part that's so slow and frustrating. Does P5 address this in the new OS X incarnation? Or is it bogged down?
