Hi all, I want to have a character that I've modeled in 3ds max walking along some terrain while Vue plants blow in the breeze. I can work fairly efficiently in these programs, but I've never tried really heavy-duty importing and exporting between them and have some newbie questions. This is from the help file: The contents of this group depends on the export format selected: "If the selected file format is 3DS, select the Include animation information checkbox to include animation information inside the 3DS file. Supported animation information includes position, size, orientation, lighting and camera attributes." Does anyone know offhand if these attributes include the wind function for plants? I would really prefer to do most of the animation and rendering work in 3ds max - but it would be great to use Vue to generate the outdoor environment with wind for the animation.

Only Poser pz3 and pzz animations can be imported into Vue 4 Pro. Nothhing else.

Not certain if you can export wind animation of plants to 3DS - don't have 3DS at home. Don't have Vue at work. I'd certainly be interested in finding out if Vue Pro can export plant animation to 3DS. Why not create a simple plant animation with a single plant, export it to 3DS and see if it is animated once you import it into 3ds Max?

and vice versa of course! Animation information in a 3DS file sounds very strange to me - and non-standard. Or an enhancement from 3D Studio Max. But i can easily be wrong here.

I've tried exporting a simple plant animation to 3ds format... no luck. The plant mesh exports fine, but the wind animation doesn't. :( If gebe is correct, I also can't import 3ds animations to Vue. I wrote to e-on technical to see if there's anything that I've missed. Looks like I may have to render the plant/environment animation in Vue, throw the base mesh over to 3ds and the rendered Vue TGA sequence over to Combustion, animate the character(s) and props in 3ds max based on the position of the base Vue plant meshes, throw the rendered character animations at Combustion, and put it all together. Weee!

sounds like fun. Is there no way to do the character animation in Poser? This you can bring into Vue - with Mover 5. So that you can combine it directly there with the Vue wind animation.

That may be possible, wabe. Thanks again for the help!
