Subject: 'phantom' planes in basic models?

ive created several pots, vases, cups etc in 3ds and anim8or, with lathe and subdivide. there wasn't anything different 'i' did in the making them from one program to the other. tho im not sure if each of the programs handle these tools and shapes differently. my problem is that tho my models look just fine in 3ds or anim8or when i import it to poser 4 (with pp) i get a 'phantom' face or plane in the object. the 'phantoms' appear as this medium gray circle midway down and completely thru the simple cup shape (just as an example). ive asked about this at other places, in concern to other items ive had this problem with but the solutions recommended did not seem to help. one of the suggestions was to make sure that "consistant normals" and "invert normals" where checked when importing the .obj for most items this did nothing. for a couple of them they completely disappeared. it would list the items as there but it was not visable. Pleaseeeeeeeee helppppp! lol

Does it look something like this? If so, you're seeing the Poser ground plane. It appears as a shadow when an object passes through it. If the ground is turned invisible, try making it visible (Ctrl-G on a PC) and you'll see a more understandable picture.
