Subject: New user question: How to use 2 Props to create a Figure in Setup Room ?

MarcioAB ( ) posted Tue, 13 April 2004 at 3:06 PM ยท edited Mon, 29 July 2024 at 6:05 AM

For example: Get 2 primitives from Props Lib and somehow bring them both into the Setup room to be used in the polygons grouping part of Figure creation.

Thank you.
Marcio

I can't tell you directly, but search here in 'rosity for Dr Geeps tutorials - they'll tell you all about how to go abaout it (I'd give you the link, but I've lost it - I have all the Dr's tuts on my HD:-)) Cheers, Diolma

You would need to get the props in place and sized as you want, then export them as one wavefront object. Then reimport this object to use in the setup room.

export/reimport ... nice.
DG tutorials ... nice also.
Thank you.

I realized now my question should be a bit more extensive:

How to add a Prop to an existing Figure ?
(or how to add more polygons to an existing Figure ?)

I'm trying to find these DG's tutorials and them find out how to, but will appreciate any short answer in the meantime.

Thank you.
Marcio

which part of the figure do you want changed?

MarcioAB ( ) posted Wed, 14 April 2004 at 11:26 AM

May be this scenario can help me:

  1. Get a Prop (a cube for example)
  2. Create a Figure using this cube (using "Hierarchy Window/Create New Figure" or just going inside Setup Room)
  3. Now, I just want to add more Props (a ball for example) to this Figure.

Must be something very simple, but I can not find how ...

Thank you,
Marcio

If it is a simple figure then making a new figure would probably be best. But adding a part to a complex figures head for example, might be more difficult that is why I asked which part. The head and hands will be the hardest parts to add objects to.

You might be better to just make the new object a smart prop then save the whole thing as a cr2 (figure).

There is no easy way that I know of to add parts to a figure that is already made.
