Subject: Two questions about poser 5

Hi. I few days ago I purchased a mouse figure from daz3d and have started working with it in Poser 5. I am new to Poser 5 and when I render the model it renders with the default mouse like materials that came with the model. I want to render the model using different colours, but have so far been unable to figure out how to stop Poser from rendering it with the preinstalled mouse textures. How can I do this? On to the second question. I have started adding fur to the mouse model in the hair room and have 8 seperate hair sections defined (one for the back, one for the thighs, etc.). I have the fur colour (created in the material room) I want for the first section of fur and want to apply it to all the other hair groups. Do I have to manually select the colours for each hair group or can I copy and paste the colour setting I want to use and apply that to all the hair groups? Thank you very much for all your help thus far. You have no idea how much time you are saving me with your answers. Sincerely, Pedrith

Easy one first. As to the materials for the hair section, go to the top of the shader display window and click on the node options arrow. Choose 'select all, then copy. Switch to another hair section (making sure that you have the actual hair selected, and not the default preview) go back to the node options and click paste. Repeat as neccesary. As for changing the texture used on a mesh, you have to change it for each body part (unless you have a MAT file set up to do this for you). The easiest way is to take the largest part related to a texture (such as skinbody), change the texture loaded in the texture node, then save this as you did for the hair, select another body part from the dropdown list at the top of the shader window, and paste the new setup into it.

In Poser five, to apply the same shader to all elements of a figure, right click on the Poser surface and select all, then right click again and apply to all, then click ok. NOT recommended for doing with people. Although MAT files are very easy to use, in P5, ANY shader on a figure (that is, anything set up as materials in the material room) can be saved to the materials library. YOu can apply any shader you create to any surface in poser 5. To change the mouse textures, double click on the texture name in the node that holds the texture you wish to change, (usually image map) and then navigate to the texture you wish to use.

You can also save the fur material you created in the material library (right hand side of screen in the Material Room). Just click on the small + sign in the library panel. That will save the material (all nodes and settings) so that it can be applied to any model you want in the future.
