#04 - 3 points #06 - 2 points #14 - 1 point and if I could chose another it would be 8 all were very good but these stood out for me. Hope this is the correct place to vote?

do more people enter than vote? 4 looks popular but was it because it was funny? i didn't think so but 12 was funny but too short to win. 1st number 10: most descriptive and original. liked the pink petals bit and i wasnt put off by any spelling or grammatical mistakes. (like my sentences) 2nd numner 13: short but like 10 i wasnt expecting the ending and i like twist, that is important. 3rd number 14: had to read it 2 times to understand it but the idea was good. though if it was secret and the switch was on the street? and it broke some of the rules i read for content?

i've just had an instant message off someone, i'm sorry if i offended anyone saying a story was too short, it was just my personal opinion. i know there was no minimum length for the entry. the rules for the story 14 i meant were the adult nature of the story. i wasn't saying it did break the rules but wasn't sure. sorry to post in this thread that is for voting, but i wanted to make it clear i wasn't out to upset anyone.

Assuming I didn't mess up the tally (2 hours sleep in the past 26 hours) - The winner of the April Challenge, with a total of 10 points is kmw (entry 4). Second place (a tie), with 6 points, goes to manimal (entry 14) AND TheAlex (entry 10). Third place, with 5 points, goes to Ang25 (entry 8). Thanks to everyone for making this challenge a success. It was a pleasure reading everyone's effort.

So, you've had less sleep than me then! I think it's a shame more people entered than voted, I didn't want to vote for myself or take votes off my own! (or didn't know if I was allowed) Perhaps the close date could be a week earlier, with the extra week being used for voting?

I didn't feel comfortable voting in a contest in which I had an entry. So I didn't. As for the lack of votes, unfortunately, these contests don't constitute the blatant positioning of large breasts draped across dragons, ergo there won't be that many folk drawn to this little portion of the Renderosity world. Que sera sera. What we may need is a contest with the current theme: Large Breasts Draped Across A Dragon. Still I think it was a pretty impressive turn out. I don't normally enter writing contests but admit I did enjoy this one. I can't even recall the last time I wrote a short story. Perhaps I need to sharpen the ol' keyboard in that area more often... take care and thanx for the votes, people kmw

Congratulations, Ken. Good story. I was very pleased at the number of entries we had this month but was a little disapointed at the number of people that voted. It is uncomfortable voting in a challenge one is participating in. I just don't vote for myself and go from there. But each to their own. Yes, you should sharpen that keyboard and come back for the next challenge. And the next, and the next... jon

The participation should be more important than the number of votes. That we have this many talented writers here is important. Who gets the most points is not important. And the votes doesn't reflect how many people read the stories. It could very well be that some people, who are not regulars on the forum, felt that they didn't have a right to vote (even though that's not true). Or felt they didn't have the expertise to choose. I didn't vote because I honestly didn't have time to read the entries. It's been a busy time for me and that's a lousy excuse but it's true. But I would hope that it is never about competing...it should be about sharing and supporting each other in what can be a very lonely vocation. That's why I'm on this forum, at least.

Ang25 ( ) posted Fri, 07 May 2004 at 8:29 PM

I had fun writing a story and thats whats important. I made sure I didn't read any of the other stories until after I posted mine. I really didn't want to know what I was up against. Glad I didn't, there were some great stories in there, I would have been intimidated to share mine. Since I'm new here, will there be another challenge? I kind of stumbled in here recently, so I don't know how these work. :-D

TheAlex ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 11:12 AM

I only entered to win! ;o) There is another challenge soon Ang, set by this month's winner. I only came here recently too (well, for the first time since last year) and have since been inspired to write a story for this challenge and for "The Light of Inspiration" one, so I'm very pleased!

Ang25 ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 5:00 PM

Well I admit that winning would have been very nice, but I didn't expect to, since I haven't written anything. I tried to do a story for the Light of Inspiration but the story I was writing began to go its own way and then it got to a point that I didn't have any idea how to continue it, and I didn't have time to rework it, LOL. So I'm hoping that I'll have more time to put into future writing endeavors. And Good luck Alex on your Light of Inspiration entry.
