What are they and do I need them in poser5 if they come in the textures like for those fences from SAMS3D?

MTL files contain the material definitions for a model which is in OBJ format. They're useful if you're importing a model into a 3D application that handles them; but if there's a Poser specific format in the zip, that will contain all the material information you need.

Thank you.

UV Mapper is an example of a program that uses .mtl files. It reads the material colors from it, and if the .mtl file is missing, uv mapper just gives you an error box, then applies white to all materials. No big deal. You can set them yourself anyway. mac
