The paradigm for art/nature/technology convergence - the Chia Pet Head

Nukeboy ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 9:59 PM

God, I remember my first Chia Pet (then my dad flipped me out by eating the sprouts!)

Sprouts, I assure you, taste better than sheep tongue...

danamo ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 2:21 AM

Or haggis for that matter,lol.

Melansian_Mentat ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 3:17 AM

Agreed... I've tried that too. That, and sheep brain soup... actually, that wasn't half bad.

(Aside) I wonder if the perturbations of forum threads ascribe to some form of Chaos theory?

Haggis isn't bad stuff I quite like it, I've never tried anything based on brains though, not sure I want to either! - there's got to be something I won't eat, I've eaten snake, rats, alligator, worms all sorts of things but brains are pushing it!

Lol.... yeah, you eat a lot of weird stuff over in this neck of the woods...Nothing quite as bad as some of the stuff I've seen in Spanish cookbooks though... barnacles.... squid cooked in its own ink... baby eels?!?! shudders

ddruckenmiller ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 2:42 PM

I feel so touched to have been the catalyst for this...

Nukeboy ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 4:53 PM

Don't take all the credit, I brought up eating! I think the worst thing I've seen eaten is the still-beating heart of a cobra. Well, that and these nasty big spiders in Venezuela. Eew.

ddruckenmiller ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 8:44 PM

Observations: Being a catalyst isn't synonymous with taking credit... Sprouts taste like sheep shit if a sheep has just shit on them. Once in Singapore I asked what something we were eating was - and was in turn asked if I liked it - I replied 'yea it's great' and they said then don't ask what it is... Nothing leaves as bad a taste in a man's mouth as having to eat his own words.

Nukeboy ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 11:51 PM

I've eaten a many thing that I but known what it was, would not, but then, I would never have the knowledge of what is truly bad. I was once offered chocolat covered baby bees, nice and tasty right up to the moment I was told what they were. But, I thought, "It did taste good, so it can't be all that bad", so get over it! I've tried to keep an open mind about food ever since. I will draw the line at them Venezualen spiders and certain versians of Kim Chi. And, damn the torpedoes, Snails taste like rubber no matter how much garlic you use.

There are a lot of vaiables for snails - the breed, the region they were farmed, the diet the snails themselves are raised on, their fasting and disgorging, and of course, the preperation and cooking
