Hey people, I thought I'd share this FAST technique to create a fire or water background. I normally use a background like this for presentations. Put any kind of object on a new layer with a outer glow or something and it looks awesome. This is how it is created: Fire: Select white as fg color, black as bg Simply go to FILTER | RENDER | CLOUDS then do: FILTER | DISTORT | POLAR COORDINATES make sure you set the "polar to rectangle option", these two filters create the basic look, all you have to do now is color it. I do this by adjusting the overall color to dark red (with IMAGE | ADJUST | HUE/SATURATION -> Colorize) After that I select a large brush, set the brush option to 'COLOR' and select yellow as my FG color. Color the lighter parts this way and presto. To create water this basically works the same way, you only have to flip the image vertically after applying the POLAR COORDINATES filter. Color it blue instead of red and that's it. Hope you find it useful :)
