Subject: Space Suits?

I'm sure this question must have come up before, so my apols if I'm repeating anything here! I've been looking for some realistic spacesuits, helmets and other related props but haven't found anything that suits my needs yet. So I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction? I can find plenty of futuristic sci-fi style items but nothing like the NASA style suits that I'm looking for. Anyone found any? I want to do some space/planet surface renders with some astronauts exploring on there. Thanks for any links you may come up with! Steve

Nope, there ain't any. I've been asking for long enough. See that brick wall over there? Care to join me bashing your head against it? ;)

There was one. Full NASA-style suit and MMU. A little expensive, tho., and fitted for P4. Try; http://members.bellatlantic.net/~howarths/ Sam probably remembers this thread from the wishing well. :>

Poserworld has one too- but it is a big time resource hog- even worst then V3 and M3 combined.

Jeorge Weber made one (at least the helmet) which was in Freestuff for awhile..I cheat..I bring a Poser character into Wings 3d, then extrude the 'spacesuit' parts and texture to suit..;) I've seen one for Mike somewhere, recently. Might also be in freestuff. Someone in another forum (maybe this one..) was working on a '2001'-style suit.

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

There are none that I know of based on real space suits, but the Mars suit by... aw forgot who did it... in the Marketplace looks to be a realistic SF suit and works with Mike and Vicky. I'll buy that one of these days

There's a lot of references out there, and they all look slightly wrinkly in reality, which either uses a lot of polygons, or some sort of bump-map... Unless you're talking the walk to the capsule at launch, you're also not likely to see the astronaut's head because of the sun visor, so anyone making a suit could get away with not fitting any specific character. I think there's been at least one suit done that way.

Go here: http://stevesartgallery.bryce-alive.net/ In the Downloads section under Poser Characters, scroll down and you will find a space suit for P4 Man and for Michael.

Hi all, Many thanks for the tips and links everyone, much appreciated! Yes, I'd come across that suit at Howarths a while ago but I'd lost the link, so I'll take another look at it now. The suit at StevesArtGallery is quite nice (although not quite what I need, but maybe I could adapt it a bit). There are some other great Poser downloads on the site too so I'll definately return later to grab some. I've been thinking of trying to make my own spacesuit but my modelling skills aren't really upto something that complex yet! But maybe I'll have a go at it and see what happens. I'll let you know if I come up with anything useful anyway. Cheers.
