Subject: Why does Photoshop keep losing my settings?

This problem annoys me a lot; every so often (sometimes after a month, sometimes after a few days) Photoshop resets itself to the factory state and opens with the dialog box about would you like to configure your colour settings. All my preferences, brushes, etc are lost. This is on Windows XP Home. I'm also running Photoshop on another PC with Windows 2000 and this never happens on that PC. Any ideas as to what could be causing it?
