Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
This is what I do:-
Tops and Jackets
Keep the neck and head, it holds the spine in place. For the arms keep one bone past the end of your clothing. i.e My long sleeved sweaters still have a hand joint.
Shoes
Keep the bones all the way up to the hip. I also remove all the IK references including any initial translations that only show up in a text editor.
I will try this and report. Thanks a lot PhilC. >> I also remove all the IK references including any initial translations that only show up in a text editor.>> Could you explain a little bit more about the above. I'm deleting the IK references but where can I find initial translations? Are those possible shifts from the 0,0,0 Poser universe? a CR2 that was done without first zeroing? Where do I find it in a CR2? Sorry for the many questions. By the way your tutorial has been a big help in making me understand Poser joint parameters, I'm glad I bought it.

I have modeled a set of clothes shirts, pants, socks, tennis shoes, conforming jewelry, etc. and used CR2 donor files for such items of clothes. Made some very minor joint parameters editing, have tested different poses and seen the poke thru if any is minimal, nothing that cannot be fixed with a couple of corrective morphs, that in many cases I have already done while testing poses. But now when I go to clean some of those extra bones from the donor CR2 files, everything gets misaligned, sometimes its just a bit, sometimes its a lot. At times I cannot delete a bone without getting a major shift in the other bones. Like for a shirt I cannot delete the neck bone without the whole thing misaligning. Also deleting the buttocks bones will make the hips jump up. When creating the shoes and socks I tried other shoes CR2's and the fit was never as perfect since they go so tight one on top of the other. I had to use the figure CR2 which contains all the bones and rendered the best results. It works really well, but once I delete all the extra bones the fit is never as perfect as it was. The poke thru is minimal and I have tried to align it as it was but I must be missing some parameter that was making it fit close to perfection before. I've bought clothing with a bunch of extra bones but wanted to produce my set with only the necessary bones but its looking more and more that cleaning the extra bones is going to take me a really long time of fixing joint parameters. Time that I could use making morphs and textures for my set. This is basically what I'm doing: zero > memorize figure > delete the IK chain in poser room (when necessary) > then go in the set-up room and delete the bones I don't need.> Exit the set-up room >Restore figure > save a new cr2 I've also tried the above steps without the memorize and restore figure without luck. If anybody has any advice I will really appreciate it. Thanks.
