Many people asked for models of "koi" - the colorful Japanese fish. A full set of koi models, various koi ponds and related props are now available at www.expandingwave.com. Some will be coming to Renderosity soon, but the entire set is available on our Japanese models web site.

Lovely idea. You have some unique items on your website. I don't know why I hadn't looked on it before. Very nice!

Cool stuff . Hopefully I will have a need of them soon

Hey they look great! I have to know, what did you use to make and render that image It's fantastic, a helluva good promo pic.

Just a 12 minute composition in Vue. (A little longer to render, of course.) The nice thing about these koi is its pretty simple to make a good picture. Used some of the koi, and the "Traditional Koi Pond #1" kit for this pic.

Is there a post or two missing here? These look fabulous BTW! I'm
off to see about getting this kit >^_^

Wow, those koi are stunning. I can practically smell that fishpond smell when I look at them. :-) You've got some great stuff at your site. I'm very tempted by those Vue materials. I have many of your water props, and love them.

You folks are very kind. Hopefully, "that fishpond smell" is not as bad as I think.....

Well, I've been trying to buy from expandingwave.com, and I have to say, it's an exercise in frustration. Some items have PayPal buttons that link to a shopping cart. Some items have "credit card" buttons. There doesn't seem to be any way to get the two types of items into one shopping cart.

I first tried to pay via PayPal, but kept getting a "you have to log in" error message. Except I was logged in. When I tried to log in again, it said my browser was refusing the PayPal cookie. I think this may be because you've "framed" the PayPal page, instead of making it a clean link. Ordinary IE security settings will refuse cookies that come from "outside" sites.

I tried switching to a credit card payment instead, but even though I filled out the information very quickly - probably less than 30 seconds - I got a "timed out, you need to fill in the form again" error message when I tried to pay.

You've got some really cool stuff, and I really want to give you money, but it's awfully difficult. :-(

Hey, thank you very much for the information! No one has reported problems before. I will promptly look into this set of troubles.

forester ( ) posted Sun, 30 May 2004 at 8:38 AM

Thank you very much randym77. It appears that when Paypal shifted to start taking credit cards about 45 days ago, our linkages to them were changed for about half of our products - unbeknownst to us. Nothing to do now but strip out all of the Paypal linkages from every page, and re-build everything all over again. (Sigh!) If you hadn't reported problems, we never would have known. So, we really appreciate it very much. Site will be re-built and clean by this evening. Randym77, if you'll send me a little e-mail note to sprucefir@earthlink.net, we'd like to reply by giving you one of the koi packages as an expression of our thanks for finding the problem for us.

Thanks Caly. You're the first one to indicate any real interest in poseable koi, but some friends are at work on them now. We also are arranging to have a high-resolution koi built over the next few weeks for anyone who wants to compose a close-up scene of a person feeding some koi. Both items should be available within two weeks, I think. Also, I did not post this info on the web site (but it's in the documentation for the koi), ... but we do have low resolution koi available by request, as well. Some architects need them for distance viewing, but necessarily are trying to keep their overall polygon counts as low as possible. So, it looks like there will be at least four versions available - although most people probably want the middle-resolution versions currently available on the web site.
