They're not jpgs are they that were originally named filename.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg or something odd like that were they? You get those sort of files on websites and when windows saves them it lops off the .jpg part because its already found a ".".

Anyway, try renaming them to a .jpg (or just put a .jpg on the end) and opening them.

possible temp files that weren't cleared off when bryce or poser crashed during a render.

ocddougdotcom ( ) posted Mon, 07 June 2004 at 2:15 AM

Very strange...if I saw those on my comp I'd erase em.

Zhann ( ) posted Mon, 07 June 2004 at 2:22 AM

I'll try the jpg route first then erase.....

OK, found it. They are images you've grabbed for reference purposes that have just had their .jpg chopped off the end by windows.

Here's that one ->

Okay, that explains it, well I deleted them anyway. I like to keep track of books I order and that was one of them, thanks. I've been looking for books on East Asian, Chinese specifically, architecture, and I must say it's sadly lacking, and the one book I found that went into detail with drawings was $120, little too steep for me. So I guess I'll see what the library has to offer...

LOL I've heard of detective work, but this is ridiculous!!!! How the heck did Flak track that down?

Pog': That's easy! Flak is in Australia, and that's near East Asia......................

@ Zhann - yeah a few years ago I went looking for japanese and chinese architecture and/or floorplan books and didn't find too much at all. Go for the public libraries - you never know whats been squirrelled away in those things :) @ Pog -> Trade secret. If I told you, I'd have to kill you ;) @ Bryster -> Heheh.

Zhann - a beautiful book, that I've borrowed from my local library in the past, is The Forbidden City. FANTASTIC photographs. Unfortunately a search on Amazon brings up loads of books with the same name, none of them are the one I'm thinking of :o|

Tried to post this first thing, but was having connection probs.... The LZZZZZZZ are for large JPGs, they use MZZZZZZZ for medium and THUMBZZZ for something else that I can't quite work out. Like Flak discovered, Amazon use it for their thumbnail, normal and zoom views. OK, going back to sleep now.

Oh and the first part of the file name is the books ISBN I think.

Zhann- While researching that very same topic for a Bryce project I discovered this site with a lot of helpful links. I hope this helps. I still have the proj on a "back-burner", but someday i'll post it,lol.

Another thought occurs to me(Wow, two in one day!) I can't find the site at the moment, but I was able to download some quite detailed VRML models of a Chinese house and temple that showed the intricate "puzzle-box" way that the roofs and eaves and beam structures fit together. I believe the site is connected to the University of Hong Kong. I still have the models if you need them for reference.

Someone put in the poser forum some download links to an entire chinese or japanese fortress he/she'd made. It was a pretty massive structure from memory as well.

@ drawbridgep - At the time I didn't know it was the isbn, but do now - good observation and thanks for pointing that out, phil :).

I used the simple non-scientific approach and just pushed that first part of the filename into google. I knew that Zhann had been looking for research materials on chinese culture (the vases comes to mind) and so when amazon showed up - result.
