hmmm maybe try to reduce reflaction o reflection of the chrome, chrome is like a mirror and reflects the environment, so if it is dark the chrome is also dark, lights are not reflected on mirrors in bryce, since they are invisible or use a couple of spotlights instad of radial lights hope it helps nice place btw...
You might try 'Polished Silver' or 'Brushed Silver'......works for me!

on lighting.I'm trying to get the arms of the chair to show the chrome type metal that I made them.But all i am getting is a grey.
Without ruining his skin.It is already as bright as I want it.
But now I have 5 radials in and have been playing with all the settings.
Grrr.......
