Subject: file format *.mtl

I think I saw something about this but I want to make sure before I delete all of those. I have lots of *.mtl files in my geometries folder. Is it okay to delete them? I use Poser 5. Thanks. France

It's usually safe enough ....

The .mtl is a material list for a matching .obj. Useful if you're importing an .obj file and want to retain most of the original material settings, but for figures and props Poser stores all the material information in the CR2 or PP2.

So Poser will never ask for it, will it? All those mtl files came with freebies downloads and I save all those on CDs after installing them so if I ever need a mtl file I can retrieve it on the CD. France

If you use bryce it needs the .mtl files to load wavefront objects but poser doesn`t need them. (I nearly lost this message by pressing escape instead of apostrophe)

So Poser will never ask for it, will it? Not really. If you import an .obj without its .mtl, or use a CR2/PP2 that has no material block, Poser will assign random colours to the materials.
