Subject: How long has it been?

I have remained too long in silence, finding my voice, finding myself, losing all the equity of words that once were mine. Where once lived poetry and music, only silence, only distance, between this bit of paper and what is on my mind. (ever have one of those years?)

I have had, unfortunately, decades like that. I find the more time passes, the more difficult it is to get back to it.

It's been flipping ages :-) I've missed seeing your posts. for me, it's not lack of ideas, or things I want to write. It's just there never seems to be enough time. Things slip away before I get a chance to write them down and then all I remember is that I was going to write something about eg. the crowning insult in every cheap box of chocolates (you know, how they put that stupid lump of their cheap chocolate in the middle of the box like a gift, while everyone dives for the other chocolates which have centers to drown out the yukky taste) but I can't quite recapture the sense of why I was so amazing annoyed at the concept. Or whatever :-) Shanna :-)

At first I thought I was just in a slump, this would pass.. til one day I sat down with a brilliant(in my mind anyway) idea to write some prose about, and nothing would come. Not one word that didn't sound tired and trite. And not only did it happen one time, but numerous times. I figured ok, this will pass... Finally it seems to have for this little bit of poem anyway. Let us hope the pall over my brain is gone for good.

Good to see you back. The poem is very good and speaks to the heart of every writer that has gone though protracted dry spells (probably most of us). At least it's a start. Hope you can break out soon. jon

Nothing new lies under the sun;
The project cries that it's not done,
And you step back to look again,
For something never unsaid.

You change your focal point and then;
Turn it over, and change the light,
Add more color,work through the night,
And try to create a view.

In bold strokes now you state your case;
and just as quickly you erase,
Returning to the silence safer,
In front where lies the still blank paper...
