Can you recommend any inexpensive reliable web hosting service?
We are planning to use it for Poser (still) art works. The site will be simple, small, and low traffic.
Thank you.
I was not sure whether this was off topic.

No, not off topic to me. But I don't Poser and Low Traffic Web Site belong in the same sentance? You might look at www.GoDaddy.com for a low cost provider. I've never had a problem with any of my websites and registered my domains for 4 years for $35.00 total for each site.

I ran across one just a couple of days ago....$5.95/month for 800 MB of space... http://www.myhostingdeal.com/ GoDaddy charges $3.95 for 25 MB's of space or $9.95 for 150 MB of space....but they are good for registering your domain name....

I started with them 2 years ago so maybe their hosting isn't as good a deal as it was then!

If you understand german language, then check out http://www.arcor.de/mps/hp/tp_hp_productinfo.jsp They offer 25 MB Webspace and 1 GB Traffic (a month) for free! MS Frontpage Support EURO 0,99/per month. Probably they offer own domains too, but I could not get somebody at the service hotline this evening. REMARK: I DO NOT HAVE A CONTRACT WITH ARCOR! :-) But I have a webside there! Cheers PaulBohneTiny posted Wed, 16 June 2004 at 4:04 PM

I am *very* pleased with Lypha web hosting. We were looking for large transfer and they offer 50 GB transfer on their $6.95 deal. 1000Mb space and much more goodies.Xena posted Wed, 16 June 2004 at 9:02 PM

If you want to incorporate forums or a store, or anything that requires a database, I'd suggest hostforweb.com. $99 per year. I have an account with them and the uptime and upload/download speed is fantastic. They havea shitload of pre-installed stuff, and a heap more that are installable with a click of a button (like PHPNuke). I couldn't give these guys a higher recommendation. If you want something a little more basic, try hostonce.com I host 5 domains with them (Multiply Domain Hosting) and they are really great. Windows hosting instead of Unix and you have to pay $80 for a database (so use someone else if you need it). At $6.95 per month it's a good deal. And they've just increased the server space from 500Mb to 800Mb.mrp2284 posted Wed, 16 June 2004 at 9:20 PM

I very highly recommend Advanced Network Hosts (see link). They have some really great packages and I've been very pleased with them. Their basic plan ($6.95/month) provides 1.5GB storage space, and 50GB/month of bandwidth. In addition they have all the goodies. Unlimited email accounts, PHP, Flash, streaming audio/video, MySQL databases, password protected directories, subdomains, etc. etc. etc. And better yet, their technical service is *very* good. When I set up my site I emailed tech support three times with questions and they got back to me within 30 minutes (10 minutes in one case). (P.S. I'm not affiliated with them in any way other than being a customer)Himico posted Wed, 16 June 2004 at 9:31 PM
Thank you very much for the helpful information.
I am going to visit the websites.
Thank you PaulBohne. I learned German language, but probably I cant understand it.
Thanks again, they are very useful.

Check out JaguarPC. I've been extremely satisfied with them. Support is very fast...longest I've had to wait was about 20 minutes. Their Gigadeal plan gives you 1000mb space with 45gig transfer plus a lot of other stuff for $9.95 a month. They also have a wonderful user forum.Bobbie_Boucher posted Wed, 16 June 2004 at 11:31 PM

well since last year's august, i stick to my new webhost, 100mb free, with unlimited traffic (glad, i sometime reached 2 gb a month or mroe) and a few more useful things (such as no file size limite... useful for poser freebies, but not much for poser still art), and NO POPUP / Adds / Banners (does it still exist nowadays ?) drawbacks are that it is unreliable for forums or heavy php use... but it is only granted for my country inhabitant. i hope i can find similar offers for free available to other people. most cheap webhosting i found were still a high cost a year for a low budget (if you are alone i mean. can share the fee if you are gathering a team), an often have a limit such as bandwidth, traffic or filesize...
