when creating a 2D image in PS you can control how dark the shadow is by the opacity...is there a way in Poser to do that....sometimes I render with shadows and I like it except that the shadows are tooo dark...

Each light has a 'shadow' dial, set to 1.000 by default. If you back this off a bit, you get lighter shadows. You have to do it for each light in turn, though.

"You have to do it for each light in turn, though." Because of this I made some pose files to set the shadow strength for a range of spotlights, they only work for spots and only spots that obay the standard Poser naming conventions, e.g. spots added via the "Light Controles" pallet. You can find them in the Free Stuff in my "SpotLight Utility Pose Pack 1".

If you take a wander over to my site (link above) and open up the "Tips" section you'll find a mini-tutorial showing how the Map Strength and Shadow settings affect your shadows, and how you can vary them.
