Subject: Joint Test

Attached Link: Arm bend test

In the "arm bend"(or something like that) folder, there is a 275k zip of 2 mp4(quicktime compatible)movies with a higher poly arm .obj model.I used a modeling method employed in video games that use an un-unified mesh system. No matter what though, seams are evident at the joints.Sometimes this can be worked around though. If there are clever modelers, you can hide seems using the mesh itself. If the shoulders for example went into armor or something,it could be well hidden. The major 2 joints that are hard to hide though are the leg connections at the hips.It could be hidden with a dress or whatnot but that might be funny looking unless its a scottish scene(Braveheart). If anyone else wants to take a stab at the whole figure animation in bryce thing chime on in.We might end up with a very cool usable figure set-up in bryce in the near future.Or a bryce figure modelers group.Robots, mechs, and vehicles are very easy to make for animation,as well as posing.I'm suprized that there are not more robots and such in the free section.Maybe a few of the sci-fi guys can make a scene together and do an animation. Its all quite possible, and the tutorials that would spawn from the production would be helpfull to say the least.

Did tou inspect the object file?Should the mesh be higher rez or is it about right? If this joint system seems good enough or promising,I'll base the next bryceman off these typs of joints.Any feedback would help.

I think it looks great. Joints are hard to make look good, period. Even the latest/greatest Poser figures still show rough edges when bending. The poly count is cool, but if this works well for you , you can bet there will be some that want a higher poly count mesh. Is it possible to work on the figure in a higher count poly, then when finished, reduce the poly count? That way you could release two completed men at the same time (low and a high poly) (just curious) AS

Ah !!! I was able to get that! Hope you don't mind as this link worked I got the series to look at: as they are obps, and not objs it might be hard to compare the mesh of the new arm but ... anyrate thanks I'll try to look at them this eve, - TJ

You can distingish the difference in the mesh(the polys are can be seen easily).I'll do an even higher rez mesh to compare the differences more easy.
