Does anyone know of anyway to make an objects transparency change depending on it's angle in relation to the camera? In other words, if you had a cylindar that could do this, only that part of the cylindar most directly facing the camera would be visible. Would this be something that could be done in the transparency function editor?

I've never heard of any way of doing this, you could fake it by mixing materials together and using the "distribution of materials dependent on local slope, altitude and orientation" options and tweak it until you get what you are looking for. Just remember that if you use volumetric atmospheres you will still end up with a vague outline of even 100% transparent objects, just one of Vue's quirks that you have to work around. Hope this helps.
