Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 1:08 pm)
pzrite, Very nice to meet you. As for the ripped clothing thing, afraid I can't help you there as I'm very new to Poser (about 3 months or so now). I'm 31 years old, married to a wonderful 39 year old man and have two wonderful kids (a girl age 13 and a boy age 11). I live on a farm with countless critters (6 dogs, 4 cats, a goat, a pig, two rats, 6 hamster, 5 mice, a python, and about 20 or so cows). We live in a very rural area. I work full time at NGSS (Northrop Grumman Ship Systems) as a draftsman specializing in piping on guided missile cruisers. I've yet to make any money and probably never will with my art but it's fun to create any way. OH, I should probably mention that I live in the US. Again, nice to meet you and sorry I couldn't help. It would be cool if everyone introduced themselves as I see so many names that are becoming familiar but I know nothing about the people behind the names.

I'm yclept ynsaen. I'm an inmate. More personal information than anyone should have a right to know about me can be gleaned from my Homepages here and at RDNA, and an interview with me at RDNA. RDNA is www.runtimedna.com for those who might not know. And I delurked about 2 years ago, myself, after a similar long term silence for similar reasons. oh, and of course, there is always Odd Ditty...thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. Hi there. Nice to meet you all. I'm TrekkieGrrrl...And I'm a Posaholic... Errrr I mean, I'm ernyoka1... Well both actually. Long story but based in my own stupidity (or, more nicely put: lack of thought when I created my first username here) Not sure if it's awfully vain of me, but PlanIt3D has actually made an [interview](http://www.planit3d.com/source/interviews/trekkiegrrl.htm) with me, where you can learn a little more about me :o) (I hope it's readable also for non-members, if not, then let me assure you that membership is free) On my homepage there are also some little odds and ends about myself. Basically it boils down to me being a 38 year old female from Denmark. Married, with 2 girls (age 8 and 13). 3 cats and a tank full of fish :o)FREEBIES! | My Gallery | My Store | My FB | Tumblr |
You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
I am 50 years old, I live in Quec (thus I speak French), I am married since last February after being a widow for 20 years. I am retired from work for medical reasons and one of the few things I am still able to do is work on the computer with PSP and Poser and stuff... WHEN I can, that is.
To answer your question re: ripped clothing, have you played with Alien Skin Xenofex 2 "Rip open"?
I tried it just to see what the results could be and I think you could achieve what you want by trying different settings for it.
On the image attached, I used that plugin to get a rip open effect on a 2nd layer then I filled the middle with black and save that layer as a transmap (with white around the black spot), then while the middle of the ripped layer was selected, I applied Cutout (Eye Candy) then merged with the first layer where I had filled the shape of the clothing with a color.
I know it is not real good, but you can see there is potential with these tools ;o)

Hi Leee! I remember the name and even more I remember your AltaWoman - wow that must have been back in '99. Is she in her Vicki 3 incarnation now? I knew her as Posette and then as Vicki 1. During the split I didn't really know anyone on the two sides so I just stayed around here drifting in to PFO every now and then. Hmmm, makes me wonder how many others are still around but with other names. I'd love to see your Altawoman as she is now - could you IM the url? I'm not asking you to post just in case it's considered against TOS :) See ya! Kalypso
sometimes reality is the best tool go get some nice thin black cloth. rip it :) scan this. us this to make the transparancy map on your texture template I found that thin interfacing makes great tatters after washing .. I'me working on a Morticia gown (poser and real)with some .. messy but looks great
Hey Lee, I'm a sometime subscriber to your site - it's been a while though. To answer your rip question, when I do my works, the only way I've found that is satisfactory is to create custom trans maps AND accompanying custom textures. And actually I've gotten some good effects that way. It takes quite a bit of work though. You can see an example of how I've handled it here (a few pages into the mini comic) - http://www.geocities.com/shulkophile/ (the images are linked at the bottom), and more at my yahoo group linked off that page. The jeans and the singlet top in those images have no post work on them at any point - they both carry custom textures and trans maps that I made (the jeans used Eowyn's jeans textures for the V3 catsuit as the base, but as you can see there's been a lot of editing). Let me know if this resembles anything you're working toward - and if it does, maybe you can hook me up with a free membership ;) - or if you'd like to discuss it further. Unzipped
Hey, thanks for all your responses and it's nice to see some familiar faces and have some people know who I am. I also like the idea of people introducing themselves because you see their names and posts so much, it's nice to know a little bit about them. Pictures would be nice too, but that would probably be asking too much. Thanks for all your suggestions, I'll have to spend some time and checking out my different options. I'm sure there's more than one way to skin an apple (or rip some clothing);) unzipped, I liked your comic, it's very similar to the type of art that I do. I'll PM you at some point over the next couple of days so we can talk about it. I purposely did not link to my site because I knew it would be a no-no, so if anyone is interested please feel free to PM me and I'll give you the link. Thanks again! pzrite
If it's any help, I plan to tear Wusamah's Uzilite stuff to shreds next with my Photoshop shears. I think I've seen you use that stuff as well, so maybe if I get it down well I can give you a copy of what I come up with if you think you can use it. Of course that is provided copyright terms permit - though I'd think since both of us actually bought and own the original items it would be no problem sharing a derived texture/trans map set for it. Anyway I look forward to hearing from you Leee. You can get me through IM, or at my shulkophile@yahoo.com email address - I check it very often. Unzipped

Hello Poser People, It's been way past time that I really introduce myself here at Renderosity (about 4 years past due) Some of you might know me as Leee from the old PFO and due to conflicting personal interests I kept a low profile on Renderosity. (I tried not to take sides, but I felt a certain amount of loyalty to certain people) But now since the PFO is no longer, I figured why not stop hiding in the shadows? I've been a Poser user since the very beginning, I eat, sleep and poop Poser. My AltaWoman website is created using Poser, Photoshop and 3DS Max, I have a nice little side business with that website, bringing in an extra $500 a month. So I guess you could classify me as a Poser professional! :) In my other life I work for a large university as a Broadcast Technician. Anyway, to make this entire post relavant and on topic, my question is this.... I am trying to come up with a way to create a good looking "ripped clothing" effect, ala She Hulk. I have tried various Photoshop methods but I am really not satisfied with the results. Can anyone suggest any plugins (3D or 2D), tutorials or anything else that might be helpful? Thanks for reading. pzrite (aka Leee)
